1. This magazine in aimed at both males and females of ages around 12 to 15, the content is
mainly masculine but having predominantly female characters reverses the codes and
conventions and cancels out the stereotypes. The colour scheme used is also largely neutral.
The route of the eye starts off at a lure of two free gifts so even if you do not watch
the programme the target audience may still want to buy the magazine. After this in the top
right hand corner you can see that there is a new feature so even if you are a regular buyer
there is new incentive to buy the new issue. From this you see the large, bold and uniquely
coloured and texted mast head which helps explain the content that the show mixes school
with being a spy, viewers will be able to relate to this. The route of the eye then takes it to a
coverline than a feature of the issue is interactive so people will become more attracted.
The main image is then the three main characters in suitable costume and posing in such a
way that will interest the target audience. A rhetorical question then gets the target
audience involved once again. From this there is an image of a man looking mysterious and
them text informing readers that there is ‘top secret’ content which will make them want to
read into it and therefore buy the product.
