About the Fulbright Program
Since 1946, proposed by Senator J.W. Fulbright
Participants from 150 countries
shared the goal of the program:
“…to increase mutual understanding between the
people of the United States and the people of other
countries by means of educational and cultural
exchange…”.

Vietnam
 Started in 1992
 Administered and coordinated by the Public Affairs
Section of the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi

5. Vietnamese Student Program
• 20 – 25 awards for master level per year
• Support fields of study in social sciences and
humanities
• Covers tuition and fees, monthly stipend, round-trip
airfare, and accident & sickness insurance
• Support placements at US universities for successful
candidates.
• Merit-based and open competition
• No age limit
• No minimum GPA requirement

Eligibility requirements
 Hold single Vietnamese citizenship
 Have one undergraduate degree
 Have at least two years of work experience after the date of
undergraduate diploma by the application deadline
 Have a valid minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79 or IELTS 6.5

7. Vietnamese Scholar Program

 The grant covers:
 Monthly stipends
 Accident and sickness insurance.
 Round-trip airfare
 Grant duration: 3 – 9 months
 7 – 10 grants per year
 Up to now, more than 100 scholars have
participated in this program

Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must:
 Be a Vietnamese citizen
 Hold an M.A. or Ph.D. (or equivalent degree
in some specific professionals)
 Be proficient in English
 Submit a complete application by the
deadline of October 15, 2013
