1. Before you enter a patient’s room, scan
your body for sensations.
2. Perhaps your jaw is clenched or your
shoulders are tense.
3. Notice any sense of feeling rushed or
anxious, and acknowledge these feelings
without trying to get rid of them.
4. Take some mindful breaths, letting your
tension and busyness dissolve on the
exhale.
5. As you get ready to meet your patient, set
the intention to be fully present.
