L’Île-des-Sœurs Bridge and the road connecting them
Current and upcoming works:
• Construction of new L’Île-des-Sœurs Bridge for partial opening in fall 2017
• Reconfiguration of L’Île-des-Soeurs Blvd. overpass
• Preparatory works at the pedestrian tunnel and at the René-Lévesque Blvd. overpass
• Construction of the new Champlain Bridge's west approach and west abutment

• Daytime work especially when impact is major (e.g., noise level)

Expecting time frame of the closure :
› Early 2018 until the bridge opening
› SSLC is working to reduce the closure period : beginning of works in partial closure from
September 2017, with a complete closure in early 2018.
Elements discussed with the partners:
› Maintenance of a corridor on René-Lévesque blvd. for emergency responders to access
Pointe-Nord, with the possibility of using it during a serious event
› Improving mobility in the Ile-des-Sœurs blvd. with temporary ramps: optimization in
progress
› Maintaining the bicycle path along the Ile-des-Sœurs blvd.
› Find a solution to facilitate pedestrian paths
› SSLC will support operation on Île-des-Sœurs blvd. : surveillance and assistance
› Development of emergency response protocol (and scenarios) with SIM and SPVM
