This document summarizes a journal article about the language difficulties faced by international students in Australia and how their prior learning experiences affect them. It identifies cultural barriers, lack of confidence in English, poor grammar skills, a more passive learning style, and not feeling adequate in speaking English as some of the challenges. Developing better communicative teaching and having more opportunities to use English outside the classroom are suggested ways to help address these issues. The critique notes that the writing order is unclear but the journal thoroughly explores the problems international students face and aims to help readers understand the goal of overcoming these difficulties.
