Question 4
Read the article below.
The Internet is one of the greatest innovations in recent history. It has allowed
everyone from all walks of life access to the wealth of knowledge stored in the
cloud. It has also enabled people from different parts of the world to connect with
one another through different platforms of social media. However, there are risks
that are attached with Internet use and these risks include Internet addiction, false
information and cyber bullying.
Internet addiction occurs when people spend their time online more than they
are off-line. They prefer to interact with others and be online more than spending
time with their family and friends. This will be a problem in the long run as they lose
the ability to interact in face-to-face communication and disrupt their ability to
socialise with others in the context of the real world.
Without a doubt the Internet is a storage of information where people can
search for any information that they need. However, not all information on the
Internet is true since anyone can upload anything on the Internet. It is here where
we must be cautious of accepting any information without questioning their
authenticity. Wrong information can be misleading and will give you wrong
understandings of something. When doing your assignments, you need to verify the
information that you found by searching for more sources instead of using
information from just one site.
Finally, bullying has evolved from face-to-face into the virtual world. This type
of bullying is called cyber-bullying. Cyber-bullying is dangerous for young people
because they might not know how to handle this type of bullying since they
probably do not know who is bullying them. This is because people who usually
carry out cyber-bullying are anonymous and it cannot be known who these people
are. Parents should educate their children about the dangers of cyber-bullying and
tell them that they should report any case of online bullying to protect themselves.
The internet is a wonderful innovation but can be harmful too if we do not use
it with caution.

Question 5
Read the poem below carefully. Then, answer questions (a) – (d).
Mr Nobody
I know a funny little man,
As quiet as a mouse,
Who does the mischief that is done
In everybody’s house!
There’s no one ever sees his face,
And yet we all agree
That every plate we break was
cracked
By Mr. Nobody.
‘Tis he who always tears out books,
Who leaves the door ajar,
He pulls the buttons from our shirts,
And scatters pins afar;
That squeaking door will always
squeak,
For prithee, don’t you see,
He puts damp wood upon the fire,
That kettles cannot boil;
His are the feet that bring in mud,
And all the carpets soil.
The papers always are mislaid,
Who had them last but he?
There’s not one tosses them about
But Mr. Nobody.
The finger marks upon the door
By none of us are made;
We never leave the blinds unclosed,
To let the curtains fade.
The ink we never spill; the boots
That lying round you see
Are not our boots, – they all belong
To Mr. Nobody.
