More than Social Media
Twitter is more than a social media platform; it
is an ideal tool for micro-blogging, a functional
search engine, and a real-time newsfeed.
Twitter makes it easy for you to share your
message with others. Although 140 is your cut-
off for text characters per tweet (message), the
capacity for you to add photos, photos with
text, PDFs, videos, and links to your website
and other social media pages expands the
messaging power of your tweets making them
virtually limitless.
OUR 65TH ANNIVERSARY! 2015 IS
THE YEAR FOR TWEETING THE NGH
CONVENTION!
You definitely want to be part of this buzz. With
enough activity on Twitter, (from convention
attendees) we’ll make the 2015 NGH Convention
a Trending Topic on Twitter. By doing this,
you’ll draw attention to your own Twitter feed
and your personal practice while expanding the
message that professional consulting
hypnotists are helping people improve their
daily lives, dealing with the challenges that
inevitably arise. You’ll connect with other
convention attendees in a new way as you add
to the convention’s energy and fun. Through
Twitter you can stay on top of the latest
happenings and last minute news alerts about
the 2015 National Guild of Hypnotists

TWEET AND BE TWEETED AT THE NGH CONVENTION
Be part of the conversation on Twitter at the 2015 NGH Convention. You’ll be letting your Followers know
you are part of the most important annual event held in your profession while helping to create a social
media buzz, that could turn “Hypnotists” into the next Trending Topic on Twitter.
FIRST, OF COURSE, YOU NEED A TWITTER ACCOUNT. If you don’t have one, start here:
https://twitter.com/signup. Create your account, even if you only have time to add your name and email
address, which you will use for setup, a link to your website, and a few words about you and your practice.
If you possibly can, upload a photo to go with your account, or at least create a reminder to come back
and do that ASAP. If you already have an account, take a few minutes to make sure your profile
information is up to date.
THE NEXT STEP IS TO START USING YOUR TWITTER ACCOUNT. The downloadable Twitter app
makes it easy to use from your smart phone or tablet. Tweet about your NGH Convention plans, the
courses you will teach or the courses you will take. Tweet adding the Twitter user name of people you look
forward to seeing at the Convention. And most importantly —and this step is critical—add the hashtag
#NGH15 to every tweet you send.
By using the hashtag #NGH15 (which also works if you type in lowercase #ngh15), you automatically add
your tweets to the bigger conversation. During the NGH Convention, we will be displaying a continuing
stream of tweets at a central location. Everyone who passes by will see your tweets.
Tweet your comments about the Convention. Tweet thoughts, ideas, and updates during the Seminars and
Workshops you attend. Tweet PHOTOS—lots of photos! Tweet PDFs, Maps, Links, Notes, Videos or any
other news and updates you want to share, document, or remember. Tweet so that others at the
Convention will see your tweets, so that your clients will see them, and so that others who are missing the
2015 NGH Convention will gain insights about our very special 3-days in Marlborough.
THE FINAL STEP, IS TO MAKE IT INFORMATIVE AND FUN. There is no such thing as tweeting too
often… so go for it. From your phone you can
easily tweet without being disruptive to others
around you.
Just remember to add #NGH15 to every
tweet...in fact, if you accidently tweet without it,
send your tweet again, adding the hashtag to
ensure that your thoughts are being heard as part of the conversation.

TO POST A PHOTO IN A TWEET:
1. Type your Tweet into the box at the top of your Home timeline.
2. From the web, your computer, or your stored photos click Add photo.
3. Once a photo is selected, you will see a thumbnail image (or file name) appear as an
attachment.
4. Tap Tweet to post your message and photo(s). Add #NGH15
5. Tip: You can also send photos in direct messages.
MORE TIPS:
Twitter will automatically shorten any hyperlinks you add to a tweet. (That’s handy!)
Tweets are indexed by Google, so be sure you include relevant hyperlinks in tweets when
appropriate.
Remember to say “Thank you” when people follow you or retweet your tweet. Also, never
hesitate to ask for retweets by adding Please RT as a call-to-action in your
tweets.
HOW TO RETWEET:
1. Hover over a Tweet.
2. Click the Retweet icon.
3. A pop-up will show you the Tweet you’re about to Retweet.
4. Click the Retweet button.
5. The Tweet will then be shared with all of your followers as a Retweet. Add #NGH15
TO SEND A DIRECT MESSAGE TO ANYONE ELSE ON TWITTER:
1. Log in to your Twitter account.
2. Click Messages in the top navigation bar.
3. You’ll see a pop up showing your Direct Message history.
4. In the address box, enter the name(s) or @username(s) of the users to whom you wish
to send a Message.
