Are you using FACEBOOK to reach potential clients and continue building relationships with current clients?
If you understand what Facebook can and cannot do for you, and then use it wisely, Facebook can be an effective
tool for communicating, educating, engaging, and brand-building. As we have mentioned before in the NGH
Convention Newsletter, it’s a good idea to have a separate personal profile, distinctive from your business profile.
Your clients don’t need to know the same types of details about your personal life that you might share with
family and friends. Although you may occasionally share select items from your personal life on your corporate
page, in general, the line you draw between the two should separate your professional image from your personal
life. Here are 5 tips for evaluating how well you are currently using your professional Facebook page:
1. Does your business/professional profile clearly communicate your contact information including your website
URL, your phone number, and email address? You do not want anyone searching for this information; you
always want it to be UNAVOIDABLY OBVIOUS.
2. Do you offer your followers exclusive content; in other words, information they can’t get anywhere else? This
could be in the form of a free eBook; free audio downloads, videos, expert advice and tips; regularly updated
and engaging content; or all of the above.
3. Are you presenting information that inspires engagement and motivates people to comment?
4. Have you considered Facebook advertising? Facebook ads start as low as $5, can be customized in
many ways, such as by ZIP code, ages, interests, or even be set to target only a personal contact
list you upload.

This page takes you to Facebook’s official guidelines. Because Facebook does change its rules
surprisingly often, you need to regularly skim the Facebook guidelines website for updates.
