Syllabus for spoken English
Introduction
• Spoken English is one of the most essential requirements in this current growing world. It’s the most
essential tool in communication across the world. People are now looking for talented young individuals
who are not only well versed technically who can work hard but also who can speak good English and who
are able to communicate properly. In the IT industry this is the major challenge what people are facing as
most of the IT projects are being outsourced by foreign countries.
• It’s not only important that you are able to speak English somehow where the natives of that area are able
to understand what you are talking, but you should be able to talk in a neutral accent where people across
the world are able to understand what you are trying to convey. Every region has its own dialect. It’s
simply called the mother tongue influence. For example in India alone, people in North speak in a different
way to those from the south. Even in south, every state has its own way of pronouncing few things in
English.
• Now it’s all being globalized. The International market has been wide open. The only way to communicate
with different people is to know a dozen languages where ever you travel or simply know one common
language which is English where you can communicate with everyone.
• Fast developing countries like China and Germany are so well advanced with great talents but they lack
behind in English and facing so much difficulty in communication. Else they would have surely ruled the
world. It’s hard time we wake up now. All countries concentrate more in India because we Indian’s are able
to unlearn things as we are being taught and able to easily speak in neutral accent where people across
the world are able to understand us in a better way. That’s why India has so many BPO’s, Call centers and
IT companies.
• I am sure that if we can start now we can learn to speak English. It’s not late. It’s not a hard task. It’s surely
possible to speak in English at any point of time if you have the interest. It’s just one small initiative that
we have to take and move one step ahead and have the determination to speak good English. If English is
taught by a proper trainer and if the basics are taught in a strong and right way, English can be learnt
quickly. It’s in the hands of the learner too. If a person is interested and has that urge to talk in English, no
one can stop anyone speaking good English in a year’s time. A year may sound too long but, a person can
only speak in English through practice and by trying to be better every day with time. Reading also helps a
person in speaking, but we have to read loud. Vocabulary is also important, but if you know how to
construct simple sentences where people can understand and reply back to what you are saying, you have
succeeded in speaking good English. Only after that you can prune the way you are talking by speaking in a
stylish way using accent and using strong and hard vocabulary. Please don’t forget that all Americans are
not that good in English. They too have various accents that we will not be able to understand and where
there is so much of slang in what they are speaking.

Spoken English Syllabus

  • 1. Syllabus for spoken English Introduction • Spoken English is one of the most essential requirements in this current growing world. It’s the most essential tool in communication across the world. People are now looking for talented young individuals who are not only well versed technically who can work hard but also who can speak good English and who are able to communicate properly. In the IT industry this is the major challenge what people are facing as most of the IT projects are being outsourced by foreign countries. • It’s not only important that you are able to speak English somehow where the natives of that area are able to understand what you are talking, but you should be able to talk in a neutral accent where people across the world are able to understand what you are trying to convey. Every region has its own dialect. It’s simply called the mother tongue influence. For example in India alone, people in North speak in a different way to those from the south. Even in south, every state has its own way of pronouncing few things in English. • Now it’s all being globalized. The International market has been wide open. The only way to communicate with different people is to know a dozen languages where ever you travel or simply know one common language which is English where you can communicate with everyone. • Fast developing countries like China and Germany are so well advanced with great talents but they lack behind in English and facing so much difficulty in communication. Else they would have surely ruled the world. It’s hard time we wake up now. All countries concentrate more in India because we Indian’s are able to unlearn things as we are being taught and able to easily speak in neutral accent where people across the world are able to understand us in a better way. That’s why India has so many BPO’s, Call centers and IT companies. • I am sure that if we can start now we can learn to speak English. It’s not late. It’s not a hard task. It’s surely possible to speak in English at any point of time if you have the interest. It’s just one small initiative that we have to take and move one step ahead and have the determination to speak good English. If English is taught by a proper trainer and if the basics are taught in a strong and right way, English can be learnt quickly. It’s in the hands of the learner too. If a person is interested and has that urge to talk in English, no one can stop anyone speaking good English in a year’s time. A year may sound too long but, a person can only speak in English through practice and by trying to be better every day with time. Reading also helps a person in speaking, but we have to read loud. Vocabulary is also important, but if you know how to construct simple sentences where people can understand and reply back to what you are saying, you have succeeded in speaking good English. Only after that you can prune the way you are talking by speaking in a stylish way using accent and using strong and hard vocabulary. Please don’t forget that all Americans are not that good in English. They too have various accents that we will not be able to understand and where there is so much of slang in what they are speaking.
