5. For the photoshoot I waned to take the pictures in an
urban background as the artists is clearly young and I felt
it suited the style of video and artist identity more, than
if I were to do a proper studio photoshoot. I think the
casual clothing and body language in the photos really
helps give the artist his own identity and as the audience
makes you automatically connect with him. Overall the
shoot went successfully and to plan the only thing I wish
i’d thought about when considering Mise-en scene was his
sunglasses hanging out of his pocket, as they are quite
distracting and look out of place.
6. Final edited pictures for front cover of
Digipak
These are the two images from the shoot that I
think would be best for the front cover. Firstly
in both he is making direct eye contact with the
camera which is really engaging and eye
catching; therefore perfect for the album cover.
Another reason I selected these two is because I
think they are both perfectly framed, and the
compositions is good; still with some space
around him for the artist name and album name
etc. I decided to edit them; just adjusting the
contrast, white balance and colours to match
the colours in the music video so there is a clear
link between the two products. I decided in the
photoshoot to take the majority of the pictures
from a slight low angle as i thought it would be
quite striking for the front cover image.
Hopefully it will appear as though he has
confidence and power rather than looking
dominating or almost aggressive.
7. Final edited pictures for inside Digipak
I took some landscape mages as I had already planned that I wanted to have a
picture covering 2 of the inside panels as this is an aspect I really liked when
looking at existing Digipaks. I wanted it to be medium shot so more of his clothing
was showing as I feel this is an aspect that really brings out his personality and
identity. During the shoot I tried using a variety of angles; as well as experimenting
with him looking directly into the camera and some with him not. I much preferred
the ones were he is interacting with the camera as they are a lot more engaging .
I also experimented with him sitting
down and getting the whole outfit in,
which I think worked really well. I
think this particular image would be
good for a magazine advert however I
feel the advert needs to have the
image used for the front cover of the
Digipak as this is a convention; so the
advert and album are easily
recognisable.
