The Michalaks are a family known for their weekly Youtube videos
that they produce. They are a regular family who film every aspect
of their life, from their holidays, to a day of lazing around. The
way they film and edit makes every shot unique and interesting. I
have followed them for years and have grown almost addicted to
watching their videos, because a part of me feels attached and
close to them.
Music videos are edited in the opposite way to their type
of video. They take the footage first, lay it down and then
search for the correct piece of music to compliment with
the shots. Them carrying at least 8 cameras with them at
all times means they have the opportunity to film from all
angles, to give a variety of shot type; to keep the video
interesting. They also have a drone and an underwater
camera that they often use.
“When we walk out of our house as a family we never leave with
less than 8 cameras, multiple lenses and a drone. These are
what we use to capture our adventures, but that's only the tip of
the iceberg. Once we've got the shots, that's when the real work
begins.”
