2. • Both Kent Life Magazine and Cornwall today make use of
longshots as their main image, making the location more
inviting and immersive for the reader.
• The Cornwall Today magazine has a more minimalistic
approach to their front covers, relying on the image to
draw in the reader. Kent life on the other hand decides to
inform the reader.
• The Kent Life Magazine also makes use of secondary
images, to give better insight on the main contents of the
magazine. Whilst Cornwall Today doesn’t use secondary
images, the minimal text used also informs the reader of
some of the main contents of the issue.
3. • Unlike previous examples, these ones tend to move away
from using long shots of landmarks and nature and make
more use of close up or mid shots of people (even Tom
Hardy and Ed Sheeran) and wildlife.
• These magazines are also less minimalistic and are less
centred around local wildlife and nature, especially the
Hampshire Style Magazine.
• All the Magazine designs so far appear to be very
colourful, no doubt to the show each local area in as bright
a light as possible, or to make the place seem welcoming.
4. Its clear to see that there is a wide variety of different styles of
regional magazines available, with the style and design seemingly
dependent of the main focus of that magazine. Not only this but
there is a clear variation in production quality when comparing one
magazine to another. Overall a less cluttered front page seems to be
the favoured approach, with long shots seemingly the most popular.
6. • Vast use of imagery and bright
colours.
• Typical list fashion of page
references and descriptions is
maintained throughout all of
them.
• Kept rather basic in format, things
aren’t overcomplicated.
• Some form of small
advert/subscription from featured
of the pages.

7. Due to the apparent scarce availability of good high quality
online images of contents pages, I have had to make do with
the current ones I have found. However there is just enough
of a range for me to conclusively evaluate them for codes
and conventions.
9. - Reliant on imagery or eye catching scenes/colours (Red
phone on a much darker background is attractive to the
eye)
- Red (or variants of) seem very popular, especially when
paired with a colour such as white or black.
- Minimalistic in text, or at least in the sense of large text.
Big bold text for the slogan or catchphrase, with the
product or idea explained in much smaller text.
- They are completely random. There is no specific type of
product or organisation that has adverts in these
magazines, it is literally anything and everything.
