The Crack
The Crack covers a wide variety of Sub-Genres including Music, Art, Stage, Film and
Food assuring the magazine will have something for everyone to enjoy. The main genres
would be Music and Art with others acting as smaller details that would work around the
content of the main two. The audience range of this magazine would most likely be
much younger adults with some older readers still buying it. Its bright colour scheme and
simplistic layout would certainly attract younger audiences from the first glance. I would
say The Crack would be a big influence on creating my own magazine and will draw
inspiration from several of its choices including layout and content however I will use
elements from other magazines to make mine stand out.

Sunderland Vibe Magazine
Sunderland Vibe is a lot more generalized when compared to
magazines like The Crack or Luxe, whilst they mainly focus on local
events it is a good example of a regional magazine with clear local
links which makes up a good magazine. Its obvious from the
contents that the target audience is that of a more mature audience
possibly families. However, the overall layout of the magazine is
interesting and I reckon can be adapted somewhat into my own
work in various ways to make mine feel more unique, it still stands
as a good example of what a good regional magazine should be
like with constant attention to the region itself rather than on
national stories.

Luxe Magazine
Luxe shares similar features to The Crack magazine since they
share many of the same genres like Food and Film. This means
they appeal to the same audiences. Yet Luxe mainly focuses on
outings with its content mainly consisting of showing off the ideal
places in Newcastle. That doesn’t stop it from having detail sections
on beauty, fashion and even motors. The magazine covers a wide
range of areas and appeals to a range of different ages and
genders. For me I feel like it would be useful to take tips of Luxe but
it covers little on the actual culture of the North East which is what I
want to focus on mainly. It would be very interesting to use the Do
This section of the magazine and apply it into my magazine.

Conclusion
After looking at The Crack, Sunderland Vibe and Luxe Magazine it
has given me a greater idea on what Sub-Genres to include in my
own magazine. After looking at each brands magazine and website
it has also raised certain points and areas in which I would like to
use. My main focus is to make my magazine look unique to other
brands, by looking at them I can say I have started to piece
together my layouts of my magazine.
