1. Biblical Perspective of the Black (Negro) Race
Rev. Dr. Willie A. Douglas
Ham was the youngest son of Noah. Ham sons were Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan.
Ham is considered the paternal ancestor of Ethiopia, Egypt, Libya, Carthage, and many
African tribes, Northern and Southern Arabia, Crete, Cyprus, Asia Minor (Hittite), a
portion of Israel, and Black Americans. These progenies are called Hamites, and for
centuries many ruled with imperial power.
The descendants of Ham acted as pioneers and led the world in various new fields of
art, science and literature, including alphabetic writings, astronomy, architecture,
historical chronology, plastic art, sculpture, agriculture, navigation and textile industry.
Cush, the firstborn of Ham gathered his family and moved south into Africa. He settled
in northeast African near his brother Mizraim (interpreted as Egypt).
Cush is called the father of Cushi, meaning Ethiopia. There were two types of
Ethiopians who differed physically only in hair texture. The northern Ethiopian had wooly
hair, while those dwelling in the south had straight hair. There is no genetic reason for
the difference in their hair within that period. However, it can be assumed,
geographically, that those who settled closer to the equator obtain hair differentiation
due the heat of the sun. The sophisticated Cush, on the international stage was
recognized and known among the greatest powers of the millenniums.
Canaan (the youngest son of Ham) fathered eleven nations, seven of which fell under
the hands of Israel. During Canaan’s dispersion from Babel, he did not follow his three
brothers (Cush / Mizraim / Phut) to Africa, but instead, he detoured southwest, settling
in a region known today as Palestine, which was originally called Canaan. The
Canaanites were a Black (Negro) race of people who ruled Canaan-land for more than
1,000 years (years before Abraham or any of his descendants existed), before losing
the land / region to the children of Shem (father of the Hebrews – Noah’s second son).
The Canaanites were an ingenious race, of whom where the earlier inventors of arts
and sciences. The construction of their cities were much superior to later Hebrew
edifices; the Canaanites were experts in ceramic arts, music, musical instruments,
architecture, and military warfare.
All Blacks (Negro’s) in Africa did not resort to tribal life. Egypt and his older brother
Ethiopia formed governments that surpassed Europe’s for thousands of years.
The Hamites and Hebrews dwelt together for centuries, and there was much mix-
marrying and cross-breeding between the two races. Their relationships were so unique
that they even exchanged cultures. When assessed, many Bible Blacks are over-looked
because they used Hebrew names and were called Israelites simply for being a native
of the state (born and reared in Israel). This can still be observed around the world
2. today, with Blacks in Russia, England, Spain, America, etc., of whom can still be traced
back to Ham in the book of Genesis 10: 6-20 of the Bible.
The words Negro and Colored, for more than four millenniums (4,000 years) were
greatly hailed. Praised, and honored; a synonym for royalty, wealth, and s/heroism;
inventors of the wheel, science, medicine, fine arts, etc. It was just in recent centuries
that a massive move was organized to defame or impede these “words”.
