RESOURCES. TECHNOLOGY NOW REQUIRES NEW TEACHING STRATEGIES AND OPENS UP FOR MORE
LEARNING STANDARDS.

3. NOW WHAT?
• OUR STUDENTS ARE GROWING UP IN AN AGE OF NEW TECHNOLOGY BUT THE BUDGETS ARE NOT ALIGNING
TO AFFORD SUCH THINGS FOR SOME SCHOOLS. EVEN WITHOUT HAVING AN ABUNDANCE OF EXPENSIVE
TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO HAVE ACCESS TO AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF DIGITAL RESOURCES VIA
THE INTERNET EVEN IF THEY HAVE TO SHARE COMPUTERS WITH OTHER STUDENTS.
4. WHAT IS OUT THERE?
• JUST TO NAME A FEW TRENDS AT HAND:
• AUGMENTED REALITY
• CHROMEBOOKS- THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO WRITE ON THE TOUCHSCREEN CHROMBOOKS JUST LIKE THEY
WOULD PAPER-PENCIL SO THAT SKILL IS NOT BEING LOST.
• TOUCHSCREENS
• ROBOTICS
• STEM/STEAM
• DIGITAL BOARDS
5. WE MUST MAINTAIN THE TRANSITION
• AS TEACHERS WE MUST CONTINUE TO EDUCATE OURSELVES AND LEARN WITH THE STUDENTS. THERE IS
A LARGE CONCERN OF THE LACK OF TEACHER KNOWLEDGE ON THE NEW TECHNOLOGY AT HAND. APPLE
HAS CREATED A LEARNING PLATFORM TO FURTHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS ON
TECHNOLOGY. BOOK REPORTS ARE NOW ABLE TO BE CREATED AS A VIDEO INSTEAD OF PAPER-PENCIL. WE
MUST ENCOURAGE THE TRANSITION TO THIS NEW PHASE AND NOT HOLD OUR STUDENTS BACK BY THE
LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.
