1. About BBF
BB Foundation is a non-profit research organisation. It came into being as a result of collective
efforts of a group of young politicians and professionals covering various fields of knowledge,
imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War in 1971. Its area of work spans all over Bangladesh as
well as across the boundary. Its vision is to become one of the leading think-tanks able to influence
socio-economic policies both at national and international levels. Its mission is to help the state run
in compliance with the Liberation War spirit that requires the latter, among others, to be a secular
democracy and to ensure equal rights for citizens across their sex, faith, race, caste and place of
birth.
BB foundation’s objectives:
1. The organisation strongly believes that the future of Bangladesh depends on the nation’s firm and
steady adherence to the basic ideals, including secularism, of the Liberation War on the one hand
and its increasing connectivity with the global community in general and Asian nations in particular.
Against the backdrop, apart from organising seminars, workshops etc across the country, it will act
as a consultative platform for leaders, political and social, and policymakers of different countries
2. It will give objective analyses on key issues involving the nation’s history and different
contemporary issues, social, political and economic in particular.
3. In order to help ensure education for all in compliance with the constitution and enhance quality
of education, it will work hand in hand with the government and non-government organisations
involved with the sector, other than establishing educational institutions.
4. To inspire younger generations in particular with the Liberation War spirit, it will undertake
various educational programmes, including setting-up of libraries in different parts of the country.
With the same end in view, it intends to engage with different forms of media as well.
5. The people of Bangladesh have pursued a syncretistic culture accommodating different religions
over centuries resulting in communal harmony in the society. The organisation aims to protect and
promote the culture that has been under increasing threat from different evil quarters for a few
decades.
6. It is committed to the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by
the United Nations in December 1948, not to mention the constitution of Bangladesh. Therefore, its
area of work also involves advocacy for rights of people in general and the underprivileged sections,
including dalits and different ethnic minorities, in particular.
7. Apart from protecting child rights, it will campaign for the abolition of gender discriminations
and against all sorts of violence against women and children.
8. It will undertake various programmes intended to enhance capacity and capability of different
disadvantaged groups in terms of access to livelihood and different amenities of life with
cooperation from different government and non-government national and international agencies.
9. The organisation plans to recruit youths committed to serving humanity from across the country
and train them up with necessary skill, who will work as volunteers, among others, during disaster,
natural and man-made. It will also run activities for the protection of environment and ecology, apart
from campaigning for environment-friendly industrial and agricultural production in the country.
