Project proposal title and date:
Landscape driven music video
Main area of activity:
Filming
Rationale:
Over the past 2 years I have developed numerous skills in various different areas, including using
text and print to an effective level in which I can choose a specific style and font, keep it consistent,
match the subject of what I am doing’s vibes. I have created various film projects, however I
haven't fully explored the concept, in this project I hope to have filming days in which I will go out
and have a plan of what I want to film and also to film anything I see when I'm out that will look like
a good addition to my video. I want to explore my video skills however and develop a good sense
for what filters to use to achieve the look I want and have shown in my research. I would also like
to develop my audio skills because the project may require me to produce my own music for it.
Project Concept: My concept for my project is to create a series of stills and slow moving forward
shots of the Yorkshire countryside and possibly Norwegian Mountain ranges and urban areas. I
want to lean more towards power stations, wind farms, and other colossal buildings that contrast
with the tranquil background and setting. This will be accompanied by a piece of either my own
composing of a slow and droning soundtrack, or a piece of classical music like Pier Gynt or
Frederic Chopin
I have and will be researching music videos that follow the same visuals I aiming to create and
using them as inspiration for how I could make my own. I will be reviewing books that contemplate
on the existence of music videos and their purpose so I can challenge the fact of what I will be
making to make it seem right and suitable for the image and sound to match.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I will follow my production reflections that I have been using to document my current work and use
these to inform my evaluation decisions to decide what went well and what I need to improve on.
These specific decisions that have been made may be documented in my production diaries so I
can use quotes and reference what I have said with also factoring how I can remember feeling and
deciding at the time. I will then critically reflect on my production as a whole factoring in what effort
was giving and if any more effort could have been made to improve and I can speculate on what
the project could have been and compare it to what it ends up becoming. After my FMP, this
production diary, evaluation and production (research, influences) will help influence me in future
projects In university or any other further education. It will show my what areas I need to improve
in and what I have done exceedingly well so I can improve further.
