The content provided by this catalogue magazine is football based. The front cover contains
a background of a heavily photoshopped image of a footballer holding a football. I don’t
know what studio was used as it is heavily edited but the cover has a sleek dark grey and
black background. The choice of putting just the footballers eyes was to just show it was a
generic footballer so the magazine can appeal to wider audience. The colour scheme
includes a green top that the player is wearing which can symbolize grass, its also bright
which will draw the reader in and go well with the background. The text used is a
flourescent yellow which stands out amoung the dark background which will also draw the
readers eye in. Some of the information text that includes some of the names of the
products featured in the magazine and adjacent to this is some pictures of them. This will
give the reader an idea of what the contents of the magazine are.

The magazine advertises a college and has lots of ways it draws its readers in with. Firstly, the
college magazine has "future" in a big font across the top and in small font at the top of the
title it says "its your". This can be seen as way to make the reader think about their future
which will then make them think about what they want to do and what their options are. The
magazine is meant to appeal to students to try and get them to go to the college so the
devices the authors and creators of the magazine use will be to draw the student in and make
the college look as good as possible. The cover art includes a cut out of some students
laughing and taking a selfie, then edited black and white with a faded blue background which I
think has trees. This is an enticing colour scheme to use as its quite edgy which will draw in
most students of this day and age to some extent. The style of text is quite formal which I
believe is the wrong approach to make as most students will not want to read something
which looks quite simple and boring,

This cover gives off a quite professional, minimalistic look with the black and white colour
scheme and the art that is presented looks like a cluster of dots in a none ordinary pattern.
The pattern reminds me of a cluster of birds or some sort of sediment that’s getting blown
around. It also looks liquid like, all of these factors make it nice to look at and will give the
audience its trying to appeal to some satisfaction. The title is very simple as well, it’s the
opposite of an obnoxious, in-your-face text which follows the colour scheme of the cover.
In the double page spread I included from the magazine, I saw that around 1 and 13 of the
spread was occupied by a colourful HD image of a unique building in an urban area.
Although this is just what the magazine is meant to be talking about the creator used most
of the page with an image. The other 2/3 of the page is occupied by a paragraph that if it
was any smaller you wouldn’t be ale to see it and the other space is filled with just white,
blank page. This teaches me that you don’t need to use 100% of the space to create a good
looking page, if anything it’s the best looking existing product I've annotated. The font of all
the front page's text is in the most simple font that could have been used, its also in block
capitals to simplify the page further. All of these features will appeal to an architect who
likes modern styled things and thinking.
8. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
• The products that I have researched have all got a title that
is unique to its topic and audience its appealing to.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your
on work?
• I want to include some features from the architect
magazine as I believe that its very intuitive in its text and
image and background placement, although its quite boring
and I don’t think not including eye catching features will
not make my work very appealing.
