SKILLS and ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Training development
Accomplishments include design and deployment of the following programs:
- Operation Excellence Development Program. Two year leadership program for promising
operations professionals. 70 participants 4 regions around the world. After one year program
has produced more than 10 new plant managers and plant staff-level leaders.
- FM TiPS, which has been Federal-Mogul’s standard for problem solving training since 2002.
- FMPS (Federal-Mogul Production System), the company’s shop-floor management system.
- Leader Orientation. This two-day workshop introduces new leaders to the company’s core
values, basic coaching and communication skills, and situational leadership basics. It is the
most popular training program in the company, with over 500 graduates in the past 3 years.
Training delivery
Accomplishments:
- Delivery of 400+ learning and practice events over 20 years, with outstanding feedback and
results
- Multi-media delivery, including usage of WebEx and other technologies to achieve distance
learning goals at low budget targets
- Improvements in 80% of key performance indicators in the plants where I led the FMPS
implementation (the two largest plants in North America)
Training resource management
Accomplishments:
- Managed the external training team for the company’s largest IT rollout of the past ten years.
Just-in-time training has resulted in a workforce ready to meet customer needs.
- Recruited and managed a team of 10-12 contract trainers for implementation of management
and quality curricula
- Recruited and coordinated the activities of a global team of 12-15 experts in lean
manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Changed the training funding model from one where 100% of cost was borne by Human
Resource, to one where 70% of cost was borne by end users.
- Managed annual training budgets ranging from $200k to $1.2 million
Succession planning
Accomplishments
- Led succession planning process for the Motorparts division of Federal-Mogul (900+
managers and executive staff of 20), focusing on promotion from within and development
planning for strong managerial and executive candidates.
- Led succession planning process for Global Manufacturing division, driving the process for all
manufacturing operations around the world, exposing local talent to a global audience.
Organizational development facilitation
Accomplishments:
- Facilitation of more than 20 successful workshops at all levels (from senior executive to shop
floor) in team building, innovation, value stream mapping, strategic planning, employee
relations and product development
- Time-to-market improvement workshop resulted in 100 day improvement in time-to-market for
new products, adding approximately $3 million in revenue the first year.
- Innovation workshop resulted in two new product introductions within the first year.

Lean and continuous improvement practice
Accomplishments:
- Facilitated over 150 kaizen events (5S, SMED, value stream mapping, standardized work,
etc.), resulting in immediate improvement to operational efficiency.
- Created and coordinated FMPS curriculum, establishing continuous improvement as a top
cultural priority in our manufacturing sites
Quality and problem solving practice
Accomplishments:
- Led the global training of FM-TiPS, Federal-Mogul’s problem solving standard.
- Led problem-solving team which saved one plant over $2.3 million per year in scrap cost
reduction.
- Led problem-solving team which reduced scrap from 6% to 1% at another plant.
Recruiting
Accomplishments:
- Recruited Lean professionals to staff Global Manufacturing group for the implementation of
Lean Enterprise and FMPS.
- Several of these professionals have moved into global Director and General Manager roles.
Global experience
Accomplishments:
- AS HR Manager, restructured Global Manufacturing and Global Quality groups to improve
service to internal customers and reduce costs.
- Extensive OD and training experience in China, Thailand, India, Western Europe, Eastern
Europe, South Africa, Mexico and Brazil.
- Extensive work with translations and cultural challenges.
- Conversational Spanish speaker.
