Civil identity refers to a collective of an individual's features such as ethnicity, political views, race, color, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, and marital status. These attributes are often identified by governments and influence how individuals see themselves and others. Civil identity is shaped by biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors. People who share similar civil identities tend to bond more closely due to shared beliefs and understanding within a diverse society.
