Warm-up– 3’
Purpose:to introduce the topic and the teaching points
I will bringacolourful box tothe classroom (the same I broughtlastclass) and tell students:
“Rememberwhatwe didlastclass?”“What didyou see?”
EA: “Animales”,“Dog”,“Perro”,“Gato”,etc. (Ihave noticedthatsome studentsare reluctant
to say or repeatthe wordsinEnglish).
Then,I will proceedtotake some toyanimalsoutof the box andencourage childrentosaythe
namesinL2, like this:
T (showingadog):“What’s this?”“It’sa…….”
EA: “Perro”,“Dog”, “Scoobie Doo”(the dog lookslike it)
T: “Let’s repeat,orRepeatwithme:Dog,Dog
The childrenwill come tothe frontof the classroombecause theywill surelywanttotouchor
holdthe animals.
Afterthat,I will tell themtositina circle on the floor,nearme.
Transition:
T: “Now,we’re goingtolookat picturesof petsand youwill tell me whattheyare.”“Do you
wantto see the pictures?”
EA: “Yes”,“Yes”, “Sí”
Presentation– 10’:
Purpose:to furtherexpose the learnersto the target language about pets.
At thisstage,I will showthemthe picturesthattheysaw lastclass,but thistime Iwill add3
picturesmore (turtle,rabbit,hamster).
First,I will showthemthe picturesthat we saw lastclass andask them:
T: “Do yourememberthis?What’sthis?”
EA: “Dog”, “It’sa dog”,“Perro”,“Un perro”,etc.(I’ll encourage the kidstorepeatthe namesin
L2 and I’ll dothe same withthe otheranimals)
T: “Look, thisisa newpet”“What is it?”
EA: “Una Tortuga”
T: “Yes, it’sa turtle”,“Let’srepeatit,Turtle,turtle”(I’ll dothe same withthe rabbitandthe
hamster)
Transition:
T: “Now,we’re goingtocount the animals”
Development– 10’”
I’ll stickonthe blackboardimageswhich displaymore thanone animal:
First,I’ll revise numbersfrom1to 10. I’ll ask students:
T: “Let’s countthe numbers” “One,Two,Three,….”
EA: “Four,Five,Six,…”
Then,I’ll showthe childrenthe numbers1to 10 (oncardboard) and theywill have toplace the
correspondingnumbernextto(orbeneath) the image thatdisplaysthe same numberof pets.
N.B.:If I consideredthatitisnecessarytorevise the numbers,Icoulddisplaythemmixedup
on the bottomof the blackboard,andthe childrenwouldhave toorderthem.
T: “How many cats can you see?”“Let’scounttogether”
T and Ss: “One,two,three cats”
T: “Verygood!” “Now,come here andput the numbernexttothe picture”(Here,the children
have to approach the blackboard,choose the correctnumberandstickit nextto the image)

Note:Duringthe differentactivitieswe are cateringforvisual,auditoryandkinaesthetic
learners.
Closure – 2’
At thisstage,we will playandsingthe Goodbye song(if there isenoughtime).The whole song
lasts3:13’, but the followinglyricsare repeated,sowe couldsingthe verse andchorusonly
once.
