2. Computer based examination
introduction
• Before the digital era, evaluators used traditional approach-
based tests. However, with the internet and technology
seeping into different aspects of life and computing
gadgets becoming a necessity.
• The age of new, innovative computer-assisted assessments
has dawned.
• Unlike its predecessor (pen-and-paper testing), a
computer-based test is not a resource-intensive evaluation.
• The requirement for examination halls, seating
configurations, printed papers, travel and other logistical
hassles were evident. Conducting assessments online via
digital tools is beneficial for invigilators and students as

4. What is Computer based examination
• The need for conducting computer-based
examinations has rightly increased, given the
post-pandemic challenges. The global pandemic
has underlined the challenges and vulnerabilities
the education sector is facing. There are serious
concerns about building a resolute framework to
keep academia immune to such disruptions. Well,
CBT provides a scaffold by minimizing the
administrative burden of conducting examinations
on academia, reducing the time and effort that
would otherwise be consumed on the laborious
process of setting up examination centers,
printing and distributing exam papers, and other
overheads.

software such as a user-friendly dashboard, multiple
languages, support for multiple question types and
formats, detailed reporting, and automatic instant results
help in smooth conduction.
•
• 02. Reduce exam anxiety Amongst test takers: The
flexibility associated with computer-based tests reduces
exam anxiety among test takers as they can take the

7. Scope
• Promote social interaction between the test taker and experts:
An online environment promotes exam preparation with experts
or peers as they can review the course content together. Online
assessment possible through exam software lays the real
foundation of academic teaching as it facilitates discussion with
teachers or other students.
• 04. Prevents cheating: Cheating amongst the test-takers in the
examination hall is one of the major drawbacks of pen-paper-
based assessment. Online examinations managed to avoid the
possibility of secretly using unfair means to get the right
answers. The presence of various functionalities in exam
software prevents cheating irrespective of the test taker’s

● Sometimes cannot recorrect or detect the right answer if in the first place we
have chosen the wrong option.
● There is a possibility of cheating.
● Seems to be open book test

12. Conclusion
• As we saw there are advantages and disadvantages of CBE so we can conclude
that the Online examination system is a user-friendly system, which is very easy and
convenient to use.
• The system is complete in the sense that it is operational and is tested by entering
data and getting the reports in proper order. But there is always a scope for
improvement and enhancement. Due to the online process, the fear of technology is
slowly and steadily moving apart from us. We are accepting the new technology and
we are trying to get used to the technology. Time is being consumed, data is being
saved. An error has been reduced due to human invention. In some emergency
situations like health issues or not being available at home, students can attend
online exams from anywhere and hence they will not waste their years.
