The National Policy on Education (NPE, 1986) proposed the National Curriculum Framework as a means of evolving a national system of education, recommending a core component derived from the vision of national development enshrined in the Constitution. In this policy Protection of the Environment is included as core component of the national curriculum. Unfortunately curriculum integration is not transformed into pedagogical integration. Most of our people believe they know more about the environment than they actually do.
