INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
 Personal events are celebrated in special occasion with friends
and family.
 They could be viewed cultural event because when their close
cultural formal may vary.
 Those events may be wedding, birthday etc.

CORPORATE EVENTS
 Corporate event is the type which involve just one single
business company/corporation.
 It includes the annual conferences, staff motivation event,
award ceremony, dinner program, conventions, incentive trip,
annual meeting, strategic planning, board meetings, product
launches, client appreciation event etc.
 The purpose of these events may be to give the colleagues
the place and space to come together in order to make
changes, create changes with in the organization.
 Key task include considering the competitions, resolving the
problems etc.

CONFERENCE
 A conference is usually a large gathering of persons who
meet to discuss a particular experiences or information.
 The conference is a closed group discussion and it is
generally accepted that the participants have to register
themselves for attending the same.
 The purpose of a conference is to confer.
 The discussion in a conference usually results in a set of
suggestions or recommendations on the central theme of the
conference.
 A wide range of activities takes place under the label
‘conference’

CONVENTION CENTERS
 A convention center is a large building that is designed to
hold a convention, where individuals and groups gather to
share and promote a common interests.
 Convention centers typically offer sufficient floor area to
accommodate several thousand attendees.
 Very large venues, suitable for major trade shows, are
sometimes known as exhibition centers.
 Convention centers typically have at least one auditorium and
may also contain concert halls, lecture halls, meeting rooms,
and conference rooms.
 Some large resort area hotels include a convention center.

TYPES OF VENUES FOR
CONDUCTING AN EVENT
 The venue is the site at a desired location with the required
audience capacity and available for a specific time period
where the event concept shall be carried out.
 Venues play a major role in the Event Management.
 There are two types of venues
 In-house Venue
 External Venue

IN-HOUSE VENUE
 Any event that is executed within the premises of the
company or institution or in the private homes or properties
belonging to the client is called an In-house venue.
 In fact, the companies or individuals themselves might be
organizing the event.
 Most In-house venues do not need to be paid or even if a
payment is involved, it may be open for favorable negotiation.
 Large corporates and institution have conference rooms, halls
or open space within their companies and campuses where
events can be held.
 The main advantage by building such venue is the savings in
the costs.

EXTERNAL VENUE
 Any venue over which neither the client or the professional
event organizers have any ownership rights is called an
external venue.
 These venues are open for the general public and anyone
can rent these venues for organizing events.
 These may be a private auditorium or a convention centre.

 Managing an event can be one of the most time-consuming
things that will ever come across your desk.
 Follow the event management best practices, and prioritize the
most important aspects of your event.
 A successful event may hinge on what seem to be very
minor items, so keeping organized throughout the event
planning process will help to ensure your event’s success.
 An event management company usually has three major
departments: operations, research & strategic planning and
marketing.

 Research and strategy involves a deep understanding of the
brand or product that has to be launched.
 Operations involve conceptualizing i.e., envisioning the event as
a brand and researching to suit the need and exclusive
values of the brand.
 Creativity is obviously the quintessential ingredient, which sets
one company apart from the rest.
 The success of an event management team depends upon its
capacity to innovate with themes that have never been
thought of before.
 Inter personal and people management skills are at the heart

 Organizational skills along with creativity and uniqueness are
very essential.

 One needs to keep in mind that this profession calls for hard
work, professionalism and meticulous attention to detail.
 Patience to handle emergencies is important.
 Educational qualifications are really not important here. It’s
essentially the attitude and ability to work as a team which
matters.
