8. Retting
Retting is a process of
decomposition of hard
cell walls.
It decomposed by the
action of bacteria.
The bundle of jute are
steeped in 60-90cm
depth water

9. Stripping
After completion the
Retting process
 Stripping is the
Process of removing
the fibers from the
jute stalk.

10. Washing
 Extracted fibers are
washed in clean water.
The dark color of fibers
can be removed by
dipping them in
tamarind water
Again washed in clean
water.

11. Drying
The fibers are hung on
bamboo railings for sun
drying for 2-3 days.
After drying, the fibers
are ready to be sold in
the market.
