I started Edward Thompson as a trainee machine operator and quickly picked up the role operating my own machine after
a month of training. During my dedicated 43 years to the company I have worked in many departments and had many
different responsibilities listed below. During my time within Edward Thompson I have proved to be dedicated, trustworthy
hard working and very flexible. I take pride in my work and have developed a great eye for detail meaning I am able to
detect crucial errors. My experience and expertise have meant I was often called upon to work on difficult orders and also
to train new staff.
2. • Platen Operator -responsible for setting up and general up keep and maintenance of the machine. Proof checking my
own print work and printing the orders of Raffle Tickets, Bingo Flyers, Invitations, and Envelopes amongst many other
printed products to tight deadlines.
• Quality Checker – responsibilities included checking other peoples work to detect errors in numbering sequences in
particular.
• Bindery – working on the Sulby Binder I was responsible for setting up the machine for different jobs, operation of the
machine on a day to day basis and minor mechanical adjustments.
• Print Finisher – Responsible for the collating and packing of various printed and promotional material from Large Format
Displays to high value Scratchcard products and security vouchers. I was also responsible for the collation and packing of
large national promotions for our biggest customer to over 180 outlets ensuring each site had their allocated delivery.
• Other Print Finishing Processes – adhoc responsibility for laminating small run orders using the Matrix Laminator, set
up, running and troubleshooting on the Horizon Folder, set up and operation of the Kanza Gluer
