2. My Name: Kristine Wilson
My Major: Associates of Science – I
have interest in becoming EMT
certified as well.
3. I am motivated to get out and vote so
that I can be part of the change I
want to see. It’s important to me to
be politically active because it shows
that I value where we are as a nation
and where we are locally as a
community.
I want to see our healthcare system
change and see improvements within
our educational system as well.
4. Honestly, before starting this course I didn’t know a great deal
about the federal government processes. Much of Federal
Government was new to me. It has been very eye opening. I
have to say that learning about the courts system recently has
been the most eye opening. I didn’t understand just how
intricate the court system is. There are so many moving parts.
From the U.S. District Courts down to the U. S. Supreme Court,
the Federal Court System is a complex system that truly has to
operate as a well oiled machine.
5. I believe that perhaps the most important political issue our future
generation will face is religious liberty. We are already seeing the
impact of an ever-changing society concerning our freedoms. While
Congress may not place restrictions on religious freedom, which is
written in the Constitution, daily we are facing shifts in how these
freedoms are being lived out. Freedom of religious belief is quite
different from the actual practice of this freedom. I believe we
have to be proactive to protect this freedom, to set a precedence
for what’s morally right.
6. I believe the 1st Amendment is the most important
amendment because it protects our right to express
freely. A multitude of things would be so drastically
different. News, journalism, political opinion,
religious liberties, the right to express through
protest would all be restricted. However, in that
same breath I also believe that the 1st Amendment
is perhaps the most abused.
Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion or, prohibiting the free
exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people
peaceably to assemble, and to petition the
Government for a redress of grievances.
7. The Constitution and It’s Origins
Voting and Elections
The Courts
I loved learning more about the Constitution
and how it came to power. It was so much
more complex in its design and development
than simply being a list of amendments. I also
found it interesting to learn more in depth the
processes in voting and elections. I have a
greater respect for all that is involved in the
elections. I was also amazed how just how
complex the court system is. There are so
many moving parts to the federal court
system. Federal Government has challenged
me to not only learn more but also get more
involved politically.
