Political Ideology Paper
McNeal, Amber
Political Ideology Paper Many people have different opinions on political subjects. The ways a person may feel about these subjects determine
what they are in the political world. I personally do not follow politics like other people older than me do, but I do consider myself to be a
moderate democrat. Both of my parents are democrats, and they choose to be of this political spectrum because they feel like the Democratic Party
represents them. They feel as they stand for policies that will better them as people. With me, I am my own person so I take in the considerations of
my parents' choice, but also make my own decisions. I do believe in some of the policies and ideas of the Democratic Party, but disagree on...show more

7 of these states have laws that effectively require the woman make two separate trips to the clinic to obtain the procedure. Parents should be involved
in such a decision like this so 36 states require some type of parental involvement in a minor's decision to have an abortion. 22 states require one or both
parents to consent to the procedure, while 12 require that one or both parents be notified and 4 states require both parental consent and notification.
Many people believe that restrictive abortion laws may worsen family communication rather than promote it. Abortion providers encourage teenagers to
tell a parent or another important family member about their plans, and most teens do. Even without state laws, one or both parents of 61% of minors
know about their daughters' abortions. The younger the teen, the higher the likelihood that she has told her mother about the situation. Those young
women who do not or cannot tell their parents, however, often have important reasons such as a family history of alcoholism, emotional or physical
abuse, or incest. To involve such parents could invite further abuse of the teenager and other family members. Rather than tell their parents– for
whatever reason – some teenagers resort to unsafe, illegal abortions or try to perform the abortion themselves. In doing so, they risk serious injury and
death or, in some cases, criminal charges. Another concern is that restrictive laws endanger teens' health by

My New Political Ideology Essay
A population's views on political issues may change as different circumstances occur each day. The environment around us has a powerful influence
on the decisions that we produce and the views that we as American citizens choose to hold. After a semester in political science class my views and
my political ideology have altered. Today I will explain how political science class has influenced my political ideology.
When this class initially began I was sure, without a doubt I was a conservative. As the semester progressed I discovered the reasons I was considered
conservative. The town a person grows up in, financial status, social class, age, gender and the race of the individual have a strong influence on a

Cal–trans provides a wonderful freeway system for southern Californians to get as far as Los Angeles and back in time for dinner. Without such
wonderful freeway systems and highway systems, the economy of California would most likely not be as good as it is right now. Unfortunately I
still feel the American people are not ready to vote for the taxes we all pay. The government is doing a descent job with our taxes; however with
changes in the social programs the American peoples taxes can be considerably lowered.
As a conservative, I still feel that the social class of the individual greatly affects the political ideology that they have chosen. I have analyzed, that
the education of the individual has a great deal of affect on the political party of their choice. Most liberals are only against conservatives due to
medias bad review of conservatives. The media can affect our lives tremendously if we believe what they have to say. Education is the key to
determining the political party or political ideology of our choice; therefore education is one of the leading issues many Americans feel strongly about
today. As I stated in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our country. Although there are people that will argue that school
should not be mandatory if the family must send there children to work to provide

Feminist Political Ideology Essays
Throughout history, women have remained subordinate to men. Subjected to the patriarchal system that favored male perspectives, women struggled
against having considerably less freedom, rights, and having the burdens society placed on them that had been so ingrained the culture. This is the
standpoint the feminists took, and for almost 160 years they have been challenging the "unjust distribution of power in all human relations" starting
with the struggle for equality between men and women, and linking that to "struggles for social, racial, political, environmental, and economic
justice"(Besel 530 and 531). Feminism, as a complex movement with many different branches, has and will continue to be incredibly influential in

On the other hand, agonistic feminism claims that the feminist movement is rooted in politics in a way that is bad; their main argument is that the
"nature of politics as inherently conflictual, with battles over power and hegemony being the central tasks of democratic struggle" (McAfee), and that
reform that the democratic theorists do suppresses new struggles (McAfee) There are so many other diverse schools of thought, all different, and all
concerned with changing the world for the better. As feminist political philosophies attempt to change the system, there are certain issues that are
considered "feminist" because understanding them helps one understand the system in which women are oppressed in (Warren 228). One example is
of ecological feminism (or ecofeminism), which claims that there is a patriarchal domination of both women and nature, and that they are innately
connected (Besel 531). There are several ways that ecofeminists claim that nature and women are connected. One is linguistic; claiming that the
"language one uses mirrors one's view of oneself and one's world" (qtd. in Warren 229). Women are described in animal terms such as catty, vixens,
bitches, chicks; nature is referred to in feminized language, both of which reinforce the idea of the inferiority and exploitation of women, animals, and
nature. "Mother Nature... is raped, mastered, controlled, conquered, and mined...Fertile... soil is tilled, and

Political Ideologies
Introduction
In this assignment I will describe three major political ideologies. I have chosen to look at communism, capitalism and socialism. I will then go on to
explain how two major British political parties reflect their ideological positions.
Task One
I will explain communism first, followed by socialism and finally I'll describe capitalism.
Communism
This is the most extreme ideology out of the three. It is based on the ideas of Karl Marx. As you shall hear on paper it sounds great but in theory it fails
badly in practice. This theory has never worked over long periods of time.
In a communist country a political election was a rarity. If it...show more content...
Human Rights abuse often happens in mass quantities in communist countries. When Stalin ran the Soviet Union over 60 million people were
murdered because of their opposing views towards the communist way of life.
Socialism
Socialism, like communism, is based upon ideas from Karl Marx. I said that the only way worker could change a system was to work together to
overthrow it.
The main socialist arguments are aimed to overthrow capitalism. Capitalism is seen a bad and evil. Socialists believe capitalism 'contains the seed to
its own destruction'. The world is divided into workers and Capitalists. They believe capitalist and the workers can never agree on what is good. This
is their main reasoning to why Capitalism will never work.
According to Socialists, Capitalism wastes resources and exploits the workers. They also say Capitalism make the world unequal and limits the
freedoms of the poor.
Socialists stress the importance of society rather than the individual. Other things socialist place importance upon are, peace rather than conflict, public
rather than private ownership, the need to tax the rich to benefit the poor and the importance of a good environment to grow and live in. Would
socialist beliefs eliminate or reduce crime? If everybody has what they need, the need to steal has been eliminated.
Socialism is a complex theory and has many variations;

Essay about Defining Politics
Defining Politics Politics is the collective name given to many different systems, ideas and real world issues. It is impossible to define politics as any
one thing in particular, but as a label for many different aspects of life encompassed into one.
Politics is largely about decision making, Politicians dispute on a regular basis about pending decisions to be made. Decisions to be made, of course
vary in size and some are obviously much more important than others. Nevertheless, politics nearly always sets–out to make decisions in the best ways
irrespective of how big or small they may be. Groups of...show more content...
Politics strives to reduce this conflict and keep it to a minimum. Politics is responsible for taking all views into consideration and reaching a consensus
– something all people involved can agree on to a certain extent.
Politics also goes hand in hand with the concept of power. Power, in any form of politics is of utmost importance, without power, politicians
wouldn't be able to enforce rulings on a population. Power concerns being able to get others to do/act as other people would like them to. Power can
be enforced in a number of different ways, power, of course cannot be assumed unless the people with power have something strong to back up their
rulings. Sometimes, force is used to provoke obedience (coercion), while a legitimate government will often not need to resort to means of force.
People are likely to comply with the law simply because they believe the government to be making the correct decisions. Coercion and legitimacy work
in tandem to maintain obedience.
Politics concerns people, people's involvement in politics is key in running an efficient political system. Voting is possibly the most important aspect of
political activity. Elections are held in which people vote for their preferred political party, while referendums also play a key part in making major
political decisions. Political involvement doesn't stop with voting. Pressure Groups can be joined in

Political Ideology
Political ideology SS236 John Kaplan University Throughout American history many different ideologies and legislations according to the
constitution. These ideologies have structured the American system for many ages and people really never really look throughly into them at all.
Some people really do blindly follow certain ideologies and really never stop to think about the repercussions when it comes to them and they only
really take into consideration what is really going on. The liberals here in America really seem to have the most impact to me when it comes to the
American people. The liberal believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity and that everyone has the opportunity to have a chance to make it

In my personal opinion I really do believe now that time is going on more and more registered voters will continue to side the liberals now that
they see what the conservatives and others have done when it comes to this country. As laws and regulations begin to progress over time people
will soon to realize that that the liberals really have the right idea when it comes to America. So in my opinion as fo right now the voters will
eventually see the liberal side of things and the percentages of voters will increase over time. John Locke was said to be the founder of the liberal
ideology because a lot of his philosophies are imprinted on the declaration of independence and have influenced other great liberal philosophers.
He has also influenced a lot of other countries in the same fashion as well. Places like England and over in France in their own policies it has some
liberal influences as well. I think a liberal president will have more success over time as well. Some presidents have been staying on either side of
the field when it came down to the conservatives and the liberals fighting back and forth but I really believe that they will eventually turn around and
being to have to side with the liberal ideas simply because of how things can decline

Political Ideologies
Introduction
Ideology defined by Heywood would be: A set of more or less coherent ideas that provide bases for organized political actions. Its central features are
an account of existing power relationships, a model of a desired future, and an outline of how political change can and should be brought about. (2007:

This essays main focus will be discussing the main ideologies and focuses of the two leading political parties of South Africa. The African National
Congress or ANC and the Democratic Alliance also known as DA. An important insight into both their ideology will be gained by analysing how both

Ensuring that every citizen has access to an affordable education system; to water and food and a safe place to sleep. But because this system is still
very new, and with limited amounts of money available the development takes its time. So in summery a welfare state is a "concept of government in
which the state plays a key role in the protection and promotion of the economic and social well–being of its citizens. It is based on the principles of
equality of opportunity, equitable distribution of wealth, and public responsibility for those unable to avail themselves of the minimal provisions for a
good life." (4) As we can see this explanation of a welfare state again reflects many of the ANCs key values and mission statements.
Other Ideologies such as socialism also implementing their ideas into the current ANC principles and the way the ANC interacts with the community.
Ideas such as uniting people together through the ANC Youth League, Sport Clubs, Holiday camps and many other community building elements.
Further on fraternity and social quality (as discussed above) feed into socialism and what comes with it.
Another (from my point of view) big part in our current government system plays communism. Where the large orientation seems to come from a mix
of ideologies of orthodox Marxism infused with Leninism. Which should not be mistaken for the old USSR government system, which was ruled by a
single dictator Joseph Stalin (1878– 1953). In

Essay on Ideology
French philosopher Destutt de Tracy originally coined the term "ideology" at the end of the 18th century to create a science that would provide a
rational foundation for the study and critique of ideas. Instead, the term has become an extremely challenged and changeable concept. The term "
ideology" is used to refer to a system of mutually dependent ideas, principles, traditions, gatherings, and even folklore that functions as a routine frame
of reference. These routine ideas are taken for granted and used to interpret, understand, and guide values in a certain direction against those of other
ideologies. Ideologies in this sense then are a species of beliefs that involve foundational norms and routines that are typically...show more content...
Power and power relations are woven throughout all our practices and ideas. Power is exercised in every relationship, group, and social practice, and
it is not necessarily detrimental. One must not forget that social order relies, in varying degrees, but ultimately, on the ability of one person or group
to coerce another person or group, and that the basis of Law. Some conceptions of ideology play down the emphasis on power and see ideology as the
structure of assumptions, which form the imaginative world of groups. Louis Althusser has written, "A representation of the imaginary relation of
individuals to the real condition of existence." Further, Althusser writes, ideology creates us as persons and it "hails" us, calling us into being.
This dominance of an ideology need not be the result of any numerical advantage by a social group, but a matter of authority or power it possesses.
This use of the term, then describes a process by which people lacking the power to assert themselves come to accept reluctantly a limited
problematic ideologies and their accompanying values and attitudes. According to Marx, ideology naturalizes, it historicizes, and it eternalizes. Marx
viewed ideological power as largely a matter of control exerted by the privileged "ruling classes" over the lower classes. The acceptance by
disadvantaged classes of existing social, economic and

Even without state laws, one or both parents of 61% of minors know about their daughters' abortions. The younger the teen, the higher the likelihood that she has told her mother about the situation. Those young women who do not or cannot tell their parents, however, often have important reasons such as a family history of alcoholism, emotional or physical abuse, or incest. To involve such parents could invite further abuse of the teenager and other family members. Rather than tell their parents– for whatever reason – some teenagers resort to unsafe, illegal abortions or try to perform the abortion themselves. In doing so, they risk serious injury and death or, in some cases, criminal charges. Another concern is that restrictive laws endanger teens' health by Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My New Political Ideology Essay A population's views on political issues may change as different circumstances occur each day. The environment around us has a powerful influence on the decisions that we produce and the views that we as American citizens choose to hold. After a semester in political science class my views and my political ideology have altered. Today I will explain how political science class has influenced my political ideology. When this class initially began I was sure, without a doubt I was a conservative. As the semester progressed I discovered the reasons I was considered conservative. Without such wonderful freeway systems and highway systems, the economy of California would most likely not be as good as it is right now. The government is doing a descent job with our taxes; however with changes in the social programs the American peoples taxes can be considerably lowered. As a conservative, I still feel that the social class of the individual greatly affects the political ideology that they have chosen. I have analyzed, that the education of the individual has a great deal of affect on the political party of their choice. Most liberals are only against conservatives due to medias bad review of conservatives. The media can affect our lives tremendously if we believe what they have to say. Education is the key to determining the political party or political ideology of our choice; therefore education is one of the leading issues many Americans feel strongly about today. As I stated in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our country. • 3. Feminist Political Ideology Essays Throughout history, women have remained subordinate to men. Subjected to the patriarchal system that favored male perspectives, women struggled against having considerably less freedom, rights, and having the burdens society placed on them that had been so ingrained the culture. This is the standpoint the feminists took, and for almost 160 years they have been challenging the "unjust distribution of power in all human relations" starting with the struggle for equality between men and women, and linking that to "struggles for social, racial, political, environmental, and economic justice"(Besel 530 and 531). On the other hand, agonistic feminism claims that the feminist movement is rooted in politics in a way that is bad; their main argument is that the "nature of politics as inherently conflictual, with battles over power and hegemony being the central tasks of democratic struggle" (McAfee), and that reform that the democratic theorists do suppresses new struggles (McAfee) There are so many other diverse schools of thought, all different, and all concerned with changing the world for the better. As feminist political philosophies attempt to change the system, there are certain issues that are considered "feminist" because understanding them helps one understand the system in which women are oppressed in (Warren 228). One example is of ecological feminism (or ecofeminism), which claims that there is a patriarchal domination of both women and nature, and that they are innately connected (Besel 531). There are several ways that ecofeminists claim that nature and women are connected. One is linguistic; claiming that the "language one uses mirrors one's view of oneself and one's world" (qtd. in Warren 229). Women are described in animal terms such as catty, vixens, bitches, chicks; nature is referred to in feminized language, both of which reinforce the idea of the inferiority and exploitation of women, animals, and nature. I will then go on to explain how two major British political parties reflect their ideological positions. Task One I will explain communism first, followed by socialism and finally I'll describe capitalism. Communism This is the most extreme ideology out of the three. It is based on the ideas of Karl Marx. As you shall hear on paper it sounds great but in theory it fails badly in practice. This theory has never worked over long periods of time. In a communist country a political election was a rarity. If it...show more content... Human Rights abuse often happens in mass quantities in communist countries. The main socialist arguments are aimed to overthrow capitalism. Capitalism is seen a bad and evil. Socialists believe capitalism 'contains the seed to

This is their main reasoning to why Capitalism will never work. According to Socialists, Capitalism wastes resources and exploits the workers. They also say Capitalism make the world unequal and limits the freedoms of the poor. Socialists stress the importance of society rather than the individual. Other things socialist place importance upon are, peace rather than conflict, public rather than private ownership, the need to tax the rich to benefit the poor and the importance of a good environment to grow and live in. Would socialist beliefs eliminate or reduce crime? If everybody has what they need, the need to steal has been eliminated. • 6. Essay about Defining Politics Defining Politics Politics is the collective name given to many different systems, ideas and real world issues. It is impossible to define politics as any one thing in particular, but as a label for many different aspects of life encompassed into one. Politics is largely about decision making, Politicians dispute on a regular basis about pending decisions to be made. Decisions to be made, of course vary in size and some are obviously much more important than others. Nevertheless, politics nearly always sets–out to make decisions in the best ways irrespective of how big or small they may be. Groups of...show more content... Politics strives to reduce this conflict and keep it to a minimum. Politics is responsible for taking all views into consideration and reaching a consensus – something all people involved can agree on to a certain extent. Politics also goes hand in hand with the concept of power. Power, in any form of politics is of utmost importance, without power, politicians wouldn't be able to enforce rulings on a population. Power concerns being able to get others to do/act as other people would like them to. Power can be enforced in a number of different ways, power, of course cannot be assumed unless the people with power have something strong to back up their rulings. Sometimes, force is used to provoke obedience (coercion), while a legitimate government will often not need to resort to means of force. People are likely to comply with the law simply because they believe the government to be making the correct decisions. Coercion and legitimacy work in tandem to maintain obedience. Politics concerns people, people's involvement in politics is key in running an efficient political system. Voting is possibly the most important aspect of political activity. Elections are held in which people vote for their preferred political party, while referendums also play a key part in making major political decisions. So in my opinion as fo right now the voters will eventually see the liberal side of things and the percentages of voters will increase over time. John Locke was said to be the founder of the liberal ideology because a lot of his philosophies are imprinted on the declaration of independence and have influenced other great liberal philosophers. He has also influenced a lot of other countries in the same fashion as well. Places like England and over in France in their own policies it has some liberal influences as well. I think a liberal president will have more success over time as well. Some presidents have been staying on either side of the field when it came down to the conservatives and the liberals fighting back and forth but I really believe that they will eventually turn around and being to have to side with the liberal ideas simply because of how things can decline Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is based on the principles of equality of opportunity, equitable distribution of wealth, and public responsibility for those unable to avail themselves of the minimal provisions for a good life." • 9. Essay on Ideology French philosopher Destutt de Tracy originally coined the term "ideology" at the end of the 18th century to create a science that would provide a rational foundation for the study and critique of ideas. Instead, the term has become an extremely challenged and changeable concept. The term " ideology" is used to refer to a system of mutually dependent ideas, principles, traditions, gatherings, and even folklore that functions as a routine frame of reference. These routine ideas are taken for granted and used to interpret, understand, and guide values in a certain direction against those of other ideologies. Power and power relations are woven throughout all our practices and ideas. Power is exercised in every relationship, group, and social practice, and it is not necessarily detrimental. Some conceptions of ideology play down the emphasis on power and see ideology as the structure of assumptions, which form the imaginative world of groups. Louis Althusser has written, "A representation of the imaginary relation of individuals to the real condition of existence." Further, Althusser writes, ideology creates us as persons and it "hails" us, calling us into being. This dominance of an ideology need not be the result of any numerical advantage by a social group, but a matter of authority or power it possesses. This use of the term, then describes a process by which people lacking the power to assert themselves come to accept reluctantly a limited problematic ideologies and their accompanying values and attitudes. Marx viewed ideological power as largely a matter of control exerted by the privileged "ruling classes" over the lower classes.
