Some great Acts have risen this year and are getting all the credit they deserve, One band that spend
time lurking in the shadows, hiding for the mainstream are the amazing Raucous Ramblers, fronted
by the loveable yet crazy Rick, the slickest guy of the bunch. They have been searching for their new
sound and have found it. Crazy new tech Electro synthesizers mixed with old timer 1987 Casio mini
keyboards. They have mixed Retro and New school whilst adding a slight tinge of distorted guitar
riffs and heavy, heavy Bass. They enjoy generating new noises through computer systems and then
releasing them at the perfect point in their crazy grooves. Rick describes his music as ‘endless waves
of electronic bliss, mixed with twangs of distortion and the lowest bass notes. They have many
aspects of Funk but can sometimes use old drum machines to provide the beat for some of their
more acoustic, quiet releases. They go on tour In June to all the secluded, small venues to play to a
select few followers who worship Rick and his super Slick vibes. Rick classes his music as ‘Tech
grunge’ but he’d rather people interpret his genre themselves. HE never wants to make it to the
charts and if he does he said he’d ‘kill Lil’ Wayne with a long samurai sword’ and then ‘slap that
ridiculous outfit off lady gaga’. The tour is to promote the band’s new album: ‘death slip’ and to
show their fans their mysterious new sounds. They have recently been experimenting with LSD and
have gained a complete new outlook on life. The drummer thought he was on the Jeremy Kyle show
and then Rick saw multicoloured raindrops, then it started hail stoning. Rick said it has messed up his
head but it provided a new musical path to walk down. They have recently been listening to trees in
the wind and trying to recreate their oaky timbre. The band hates large arenas as they prefer a tiny,
compact venue so everybody can mosh violently and cause injury to one another. Rick likes this
violent aspect of his music and he too gets extremely aggressive on some of his angrier songs like:
‘Merry go round’ and ‘distasteful’. The band’s drummer recently broke his forearm by hitting a steel
drum way too hard during a performance. The audience were furious when he started shrieking in
pain but he carried on and also gained a fractured wrist from the constant bashing of his kit. The
band are widely influenced by percussion. The Drummer uses relaxed chimes for some of the bands
acoustic songs for a chilled out vibe at the start of their gigs. Tickets are released on Monday for
their Gig at the Club Academy in Manchester.
