1. Final Reflection
As a final reflection during this practicum, great challenges appeared, different students’
reactions that surprised me, some of them were positive and some others not, there were
some days in which they were not so motivated or willing to learn. So as Tricia Hedge1
(2007) states; “The significant implication for the teacher working where English language
is compulsory is the building of positive attitudes…” This practicum taught me how to deal
with children in ‘their days’, how to manage and accompany them to feel motivated and
comfortable at the moment of participating or interacting with the teacher. On the whole,
the inclusion of the different material and resources, the games and activities that I
designed to develop the topic, made of this practicum a better one for students and for me
as teacher.
In addition to the inclusion of technology in the classes from videos, interactive games,
songs were of great success, especially with students at the primary and secondary level.
This aspect is closely related to motivation, because as innovative technological material
will motivate and provoke the students’ desire to learn and participate. According to Tricia
Hedge 2
(2007), this author that I love and helped me in my teaching practice, “The most
useful perspective for the teacher to take is to consider what aspects of motivation can be
changed and to focus on creating successful experiences which will enhance motivation”.
Furthermore, the inclusion of ICT into the classroom allows the teacher to work with
phenomena of the real world from an innovative and different perspective, making the
classes more dynamics and enjoyable for learners. With its use, the learners will be more
willing to participate showing interest which in many occasions is really hard to do.
All in all, I would like to reflect on the advantages of creating and keeping a teaching
portfolio. Thank to that, I could learn to use new technologies, investigate and also, it made
me reflect on my strengths and weakness at the moment of being in front of a class. I
could create a critical view about my performance in this interesting and amazing world
that is teaching.
