2. Agenda (Learning Objectives)
■ What is the value of collaborative planning?
■ What does co-learning with students look like in the classroom?
■ How could one facilitate collaboration?
■ How do you create a culturally responsive classroom?
■ What is assistive technology?
I will review research, give an example, and ask the faculty for his or her example of using
technology for collaboration.
3. What is the value of collaborative
planning?
Elements include:Teacher modeling, questioning, quality responding, per interactions and
discussions, and reflective journals (Barrell, 2007).
“Planning lessons, especially for new teachers, can take some time. However, the digital
technologies available to support the lesson planning process will not only make it easier for
you to develop your lessons, but by supporting collaboration with other teachers across your
school or district and linking to real-time student performance data, these tools will also
support the development of more effective lessons with greater efficiency” (Cennamo et al.,
2019).
My colleague is a wonderful asset to our technology efforts in physical education. She videos
lessons and has aTiktok. I am slowly becoming more comfortable with participating.
How do you plan with other teachers, media specialist, etc. ?
4. What does co-learning with students look
like in the classroom?
From my reading, I am reminded that co- learning with our students can involve social
media, RemindText App, and the google suite.
As a physical education teacher, I can share work out videos, health articles, and meet
virtually on google classroom.
What does co-learning look like in your classroom?
5. How could one facilitate collaboration?
There are many examples of ways one could promote collaboration with technology.
Our current learning environment at Jacksonville State University and in our school,
promotes the facilitation of collaboration. A few examples include; Zoom calls, google
documents, google forms, and other online tools aide in the collaboration of others.
How do you facilitate collaboration in your classroom?
6. How do you create a culturally responsive
classroom?
You create a culturally responsive classroom by encouraging your participants to embrace
diversity, promote building relationships with others from different backgrounds, and by
motivating them to be active participants in his or her learning. (Cennamo et al., 2019)
Our special needs department is included in every aspect of our school. They take orders for
breakfast and deliver food on Fridays. I would like to see how I could evolve this activity with
the use of technology.
What are other ways to promote culturally responsive classroom? (gifted, English Learners,
special needs, all ethnic backgrounds, etc.)
7. What is assistive technology?
■ Technology related assistance for individuals with disabilities
■ Examples include communication devices, braille notetakers, scanning reading pens,
and much more.
The purpose of assistive technology is to give everyone access to learning.

8. Digital Games and Assistive Technology: Improvement of Communication
of Children with Cerebral Palsy
The journal article Digital Games and Assistive Technology: Improvement of
Communication of Children with Cerebral Palsy explored how ”Technological resources
can provide recreational opportunities and are instruments that help in mediating
between the child and the real world. The computer has the ability to work with these
elements…This result suggests the importance of AssistiveTechnology for communicative
exchanges…” (Ferreira et al.,2013).
As an adaptive Physical Education teacher and all educators, need to be familiar with what
is available to include every child.
What assistive technology are you using in your classroom?
9. KeyTerms
■ Culturally responsive teacher – understands the unique cultural attributes, prior
experiences, and performance styles to promote student achievement
■ Didactic
■ Individualist
■ Professional learning community
■ Topic centered
■ Topic chaining
■ Web conferencing
10. Questions and next steps as a teacher
■ What is the value of collaborative planning?
I plan to embrace the collaboration between my special education teacher, physical education
teacher, my administration.
■ What does co-learning with students look like in the classroom?
It will involve working with our students on our physical fitness test and including instructional
videos.
■ How could one facilitate collaboration?
As a future administrator, one could facilitate learning via google docs, sites, sheets, forms, etc.
A teacher can engage students in ongoing conversations about their work.
■ How do you create a culturally responsive classroom?
You must be mindful of all backgrounds and learning styles.
■ What is assistive technology?
How can we learn more about how to involve students with disabilities? What devices are
needed to ensure they are able to fully participate in all activities.
