2. Introducti-
on
• For my magazine I plan on using 11 photos in total for
the pages I will be making
– The front cover will have 4 images
– The contents page will have 4 images
– The double page spread will have 3 images
3. Model
Planning
I plan on using at least 4 models for my magazine, with at
least 2 photos for each model excluding my cover model,
who will need at least 4 photos as they will be the focus of
both the magazine cover and the double page spread.
Clothing will be mostly casual as most musicians
nowadays don’t wear outrageous outfits and mostly wear
what most people would wear.Therefore the planning on
specific clothing won’t be an issue for my magazine.
4. Locations I plan on taking most if not all of my photos in the studio
at college. However, if the studio is fully booked or I am
unable to use it, I will find alternative locations to take
pictures, which will mostly be random spots aroundYork.
Lighting will depend on the locations I eventually use. If
I’m able to use a studio, my photos will use three point
lighting, but if the studio is unavailable then high key
natural lighting should be my best option.
5. Front Cover
Planning
For my front cover, I plan on using 4 photos of different
people.One photo will serve as the main image of my
magazine, and will be a portrait medium long shot. I will
remove the background of the image in order to have the
cover star in front of a background that I will make for the
cover.The photo will also have the saturation and
contrast boosted in order for the colours to pop and stand
out. The other 3 photos will be off to the left side of the
cover advertising other articles in the magazine, and they
will all be either medium close-ups or mid shots, although
all three pictures will be landscape.The background will
be left as is, and the colours will be more muted that the
main images colours.
6. Contents
Page
Planning
For my contents page, I again plan on featuring 4 photos
of the same four people from my front cover, although all
four people will have as much prevalence as each other
this time around with no one taking up the main image.
The four photos will all be either medium close-ups or mid
shots, although 2 photos will be portrait and 2 photos will
be landscape.The colours will again be muted, and at
least one photo will be greyscale.
7. Double Page
Spread
Planning
For my double page spread, I plan on using 3 photos all of
the same person, and the person will most likely be the
person in the main image of my front cover. All 3 photos
will be portraits, with 2 of the 3 photos being medium
long shots and the 3rd photo being a medium close-up.
The colour will once again be muted, with one of the
photos being in greyscale. One of the medium long shots
will serve as the main image for the double page spread,
and will take up around a 6th of the total space in the
double page spread.
