2. Image 1
This image was my second choice for my
final spread image as the use of aperture
and shallow focus in the foreground of this
image blurring the grass stems gave the
picture a diverse use of shape and contrast.
the use of the stems at the front of the lense
was also utilized to tease the product, hiding
part of an unblemished view of the models
clothing so the audience will be prompted to
go to the website of the brands the clothing
belongs to therefore allowing a greater
chance of a sale. The use of the book prop
to cover the models face also tried to take
attention away from the model and create
the main focal point being the clothing while
still keeping the conventional direct address,
the use of the other props in the mise en
scene such as the vintage pendleton bike
and books and flowers create symmetry
throughout the image and frame the main
focal point being the model and her clothing.
3. Image 2 This slightly canted image I selected for
its mise en scene diversity and clear view
of the clothes/product. the use of high key
lighting helps illuninate the models face
and makr the bright co,lours of the dress
pop while the colour scheme of greens
yellows and blues conform to the
conventional stylistics of a spring issue
being bright and attractive to the
audience, the colours helping to draw
attention to the image. The sligtly vintage
theme is also reinforced in the mise en
scene background by the narrowboat as
well as the bike and plain book. However
I was not happy with this image due to the
lack of symatry and balence as the main
focal image was not completely central to
my lense and the space around the model
was too wide.
4. Image 3 This low angle medium long shot I have
selected for its use of direct address and
high focus on the models dress. The use
of props such as the books and flowers
also match the colour scheme while the
plain mise en scene in the background re
established the importance of the main
focal image being the brightest most
inviting element of the shot. The use of
lighting to create a soft shadow on the
model face also appealed to me greatly
as it conveys one of the conventional
stylistics of my genre being spring as
pring is meant to connote happiness and
bright colours. However I did not select
this image due to the grey and brown
colour scheme contrast in the background
as the image was not bright enough.
5. Image 4
This medium long landscape shot with
an over the shoulder shot
incorporated I have selected for its
use of bright colour to draw the
attention of the audience. I likes the
diverse use of lighting to highlight
certain colours and details such as
the pattern of the dress and the light
reflected through the green vase
holding the flowers. Rule of thirds is
also used with a right positioning to
leave room for any potential
coverlines,quotes or descriptions of
the outfit. I reason I did not choose
this image as my final image was due
to the positioning of the model and the
cut off of the coutfit at the bottom by
the shot such I thaught was not
proactical in properly showcasing the
main focal point being the image
6. Image 5- Final Spread Image
For this final selected image I chose
this as my final spread image due to
its use of aperture to blur the daffodils
closer to the lense which included the
flower motif established throughout
my other 3 selected fashion spreads.
Despite the slight cut of of the bike on
the right and the man walking into my
shot in the background on the left I
knew I could correct these minor
mistakes in photoshop. The us of the
models pose such as her hand pulling
down her glasses helps bring the
audience attention to her face as well
as the use of colour on her dress
equalizing the focal point of the
image.
