E-Portfolio (HLAC)
Fitness for life was more than just a course, it became my way life. Most of the classes you take
at SLCC are classes that give you mental knowledge. Fitness for life gave me more than that. I
got to better understand my body and improve my way of living. Like other classes I was able to
create a schedule that worked for me and that allowed me to dedicate my time to this course. The
result, is that I live, feel, and breath better. My entire outlook on life, as far as fitness, has
changed since taking this course, and I am now back to that confident person I once was.
There are many things from taking this course that I can apply to other classes. Setting
reasonable goals is something that I learned with this class. I plan to set realistic goals in my
other classes and give myself practical and manageable schedules. When you over do things,
there are consequences too. I had to experience that a couple times this semester. Being
consistent is another thing that was key for me while taking this class. The beginning of this
semester was the most difficult for me, but in time I became more comfortable. I had to get my
mind and body in routine and this class helped me achieve that. Lastly this class taught me
patience. I really didn’t think I would make it through this course and I was discouraged at the
start, but I always thought about the bigger picture. The weight loss results took time, but it’s
easy to tell now. Most of my clothes are too big for me but I’m ok with that. I’m still happy about
my new self.
The one thing I have been most consistent about is, my calorie intake. I have a log that I use on a
regular basis. The log is stored on my cell phone and it is easy to track my calories. I make sure
I intake between 1500 and 2000 healthy calories daily. My daily and weekly exercise in
conjunction with healthy eating habits has transformed my body in an amazing way.
When reflecting on thiscourse I thoughtIhad already knew whatIneeded to do to becomehealthier.
There wasso much moreI wasmissing.My heightand body weightmasswere desperateneed of
improvement.I needed theknowledgefromthiscourse to provideme with the insightto keep me fit. In
the presentand in the future,Iwill apply my daily workoutasusually do.I will apply consistentwith my
workouts,and influencemy co-workersand family to getfit aswell.
