1. -Discuss why media professionals such as script writers, journalists, directors, etc., have to have an
understanding of culture.
Media professionals should study and understand each culture because Communication makes culture
because culture is shared and created by people with the help of communication for them to understand
each other. Advantage of media professionals with the knowledge of each culture is they know how to
interact with the people, how to get their interest and attention and how the media professionals will
communicate with them in a way they can understand.
-State how the cultural approach to communication differs from the transmission view of communication.
In cultural approach or the ritualistic view we make the meaning and the message, the message can be
based on what you think, on your point of view. It is used on people with shared understanding, culture
and common interest and it is an interpersonal communication.
-Discuss the participation or influence of media in the politics of culture.
In communication it is important to be transparent on the communication where everyone can
understand and it shouldn’t be a one sided opinion or stories. It should be an open communication.
In Art it is used to express human emotion, it can leave a deeper meaning on people who can see that
and can be judge by anyone. Because we have different understanding and a point of view we can
misinterpret the art depending on our cultural differences.
Media in political culture can be manipulated depending on who owns it and what is its intention or
agenda. But media in political culture can also be honest.
Organization it is where power is depending on organizational structure
-Reflect on how your generation could challenge today’s dominant culture without resorting to sedition or
subversion.
By using Dominance over artistic expression because we can’t hurt anyone using art, we can’t step on
anyone’s dignity using art. we just use our creativity, we just use our talent by expressing on what we
feel or what we want to say.
