  1. – Start with the welcome and intention Kym introduce self and Gabriela; ; KYM: OUR GOALS AND INTENTIONS FOR MML. What we are creating…. PREPARE FOR PRESENCE! CONFIRM email/devices put to the side during our time together. TECHNICAL – we will unmute you and ask that you mute yourselves if the background noise it too much; use the chat/questions area to provide feedback if you are in a place where it there is noise in the background. Kym will go ahead and start RECORDING the session. If you have any issues or concerns with this, let us know…. FORMAT of DISCUSSION. Technical details; creating presence in this moment by turning away from the computer and setting the phone aside. For me, there is a lot of support around how to manage presence. First though, we need to be conscious of when we are and aren’t present.

  3. KYM: What is your reaction to hearing this? Can you relate? What is your awareness?
  4. KYM: Restaurant study. GABRIELA – talk about it…. How much time we’re really losing with the tech. not as polite; in a hurry; not in the full energy of the experience.
  5. KYM: What do you think ‘screens culture’ means’? Then, animate…. Bigger picture: How does this impact our attention? Presence? ADD and ADHD …question of how long can we go focused on one item before needing to switch?
  6. GABRIELA: How do distractions / mulfi tasking serve us? Diluting focus on any one thing… IQ drops 10 pt says one UK study; this is vs. 4 pt when smoking marijuana KYM: put source on slice. Tradtional mindfulness from the beginning = focus on one thing at a time.
  7. KYM: What do we notice about the definitions themselves? What’s your reaction? Gabriela – share your reaction. Kym: felt the chaos of it.
  8. GABRILEA: . TODAY”S REALITY. It’s here; and it will only become quicker. Pendulum swing. What’s here? Capture pressures of group
  9. KYM: Present co-active : how we are being is just as important as what we are doing. In balancing the 2, what is possible? How we are ourselves, with others. Our society is focused on DOING…..the idea of presence is to create focus on BEING> Gabriela; goal oriented group, know a lot about doing; WHAT DOES BEING MEAN?

  11. KYM: share what I notice….shrinking. Have you ever read an email, or text when driving? Have you been a passenger and observed someone else doing it? Easier to see the impact as an observer. How can we become more observant of our own behaviors? Gabriela: Story telling starts here. Everyone just wants to be seen. What type of culture results? Gabriela: defensive, detached, toxic, dystfunctional, ego centric. . .
  12. KYM: share what I notice….shrinking. Have you ever read an email, or text when driving? Have you been a passenger and observed someone else doing it? Easier to see the impact as an observer.   19. GABRIEL Where is your biggest challenge in managing digital distraction? Pick one area where digital distracts and you will eliminate for 30 days. E.g, restaurant meals, in meetings, at nite in the bedroom. . . Here’s our ask…now be honest with yourself what’s possible . Find the place that’s comfortable and flex beyond that. Are you willing to take that on?
