2. QUESTION 1: If you can watch videos on youtube,
why would you use slideshare?
• When using any sort of presentations whether is it on PowerPoint,
SlideShare or even Prezi, I believe those are more towards business attire. A
lot of people get on YouTube to either view videos for leisure or maybe even
how to fix something. So why would someone choose SlideShare? I believe
the main idea when using SlideShare is for giving presentations in front of
people. It makes it a little bit more professional then just viewing a video.
3. QUESTION 2: What features does a slide
presentation have that make it more convenient than
a video?
• When using a slide presentation you have many different options that you
can choose from. One can use graphs, animations, sound effects, bullets,
and even add short or long video clips. Videos on YouTube usually just
consist of someone talking an it is all verbal. When preforming a slide
presentation you can demonstrate and explain better when using charts and
graphs.
4. QUESTION 3: Are there situations when a video is
more helpful?
• Yes I do believe there is always a time in place when using a video is a lot
easier than using a PowerPoint. For example, videos while working on
something are extremely helpful because you can watch every move they
make. I personally have done this multiple times while working on my car.
You can find anything you would like now a days on YouTube. When using a
slide show, you can still have pictures of what you are doing but it makes it
harder to show exactly what you are doing.
5. QUESTION 4: Why not just post a video of the
presentation to a site like YouTube?
• When using a slideshow, it it mainly bullets and short descriptions for
someone to go off of when giving a presentation. Slides are meant to remind
you what else you were going to talk about and give a general understanding
for the audience. The bullet points are a base of what you are going to
elaborate on. If you were to post your slide show on YouTube you would not
be able to elaborate on anything that the viewers were seeing.
6. SITUATION ONE:
• My first example of using a presentation is in a class room. Using a slide
show in a presentation is perfect. When giving a presentation you want to
make sure you hit key points which are usually your bullets on your slides.
This way, people see the bullets and then listen to you elaborate on them to
give a better understanding.
• My second example is simply using a single slide for creating a flyer. Who
said you had to make a twenty slide presentation? You can simply create a
customized single page flyer in just a matter of time. You have endless
amount of options while creating them as well because you can either pick a
pre made design or even create your own.
7. SITUATION TWO:
• As I stated earlier in the presentation, I have always used videos such as
YouTube while working on my car. It helps a lot because I am able to watch
exactly what they are preforming and how they do it. Imagine watching
someone put together the exact same thing as you and you can pause it
whenever you would like; instead of having to go off of just a few pictures on
a slide show while they try and describe what they are doing.
• The second example I would like to use is watching ski videos. This has
greatly helped me when I am trying to learn something new. I have watched
endless amounts of videos on how to hit rails and do rotations and things like
that. I have found that they help me gain confidence because it gives me a
better understanding of what I am trying to accomplish.
