Dear Mr. Smith:
Thank you for contacting me about supporting the establishment of a Presidential Youth
Council (H.J.Res.47). I appreciate hearing from you and having your personal insight on this
important issue.
As you know, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-1) introduced H.J. Res. 47 on April 23, 2015. This
bill supports the establishment of a Presidential Youth Council to advise the President and
administration on issues that affect young people and ensure public policy-related youth
programs are more efficient and effective. The council would be created with private funds and
be composed of 24 young people between the ages of 16 to 24 years of age. Currently, H.J. Res
47 has been referred to the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Even though I
am not a member of this committee I can assure you I will continue to monitor this bill and will
keep your thoughts in mind should it come to the floor for a vote.
Again, thank you for contacting me. I hope you will continue to keep me informed on the
issues that are important to you.
Sincerely,
Member of Congress

Dear Mr. Smith:
Thank you for contacting me about the Hearing Protection Act of 2015 (H.R. 3799). I
appreciate hearing from you and having your thoughts on this very important issue.
As you know, Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-5) introduced H.R. 3799 on October 22, 2015. This
bill seeks to reclassify suppressors and silencers as regular firearms in order to make it easier for
gun owners to purchase them. Like you, I strongly support an individual’s right to keep and bear
arms. I believe the rigorous prosecution of criminals is the best way to reduce crime, rather than
gun control which restricts the ability of law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second
Amendment rights. H.R. 3799 has been referred to the House Committees on Ways and Means
and the Judiciary. Although I do not serve on these committees, please be sure that I will keep
your thoughts in mind should this, or similar, legislation make its way to the entire floor of the
House of Representatives for a vote.
Again, thank you for contacting me. I hope you will continue to keep me informed on the
issues that are important to you.
Sincerely,
Member of Congress
