4. Facebook is an online social networking service. It was
founded in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his
college roommates and fellow Harvard University
students.
The website's membership was initially limited by the
founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other
colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford
University. It gradually added support for students at
various other universities before opening to high school
students, and eventually to anyone aged 13 and over.
Facebook now allows any users who declare themselves to
be at least 13 years old to become registered users of the
site.
As of January 2014, Facebook has over one billion active
users All Rights Reserved

8. Allowing FB to auto search for your connections…

Do not copy or disseminate
Recommend skipping – this is not what FB would recommend but we believe it is better to organically grow
your connections based on the reasons why you are using FB. Plus, it allows you to sort & categorize your
connections one at a time. (Keeps you from getting SM overload…)
This allows FB to send your initial request and an additional two more and more and more….
9. To cancel a friend request you've sent:
Click at the top of any Facebook page
Click Find Friends
Click View Sent Requests
Hover over Friend Request Sent next to the request
you'd like to cancel and select Cancel Request

23. Notification Settings – Mainly Tagging…

Knowing when, where & why you are being tagged is also a way to protect your information.
25. Do: Create an on-line presence. This can help show case your talents
and skills as well as allow you to easily connect with people.
Do: Pay attention to comment & posting etiquettes. Do you really
want to see a toilet in the background of a pucker lipped person? Old
rule applies no matter the situation - think twice post once.
Do: Post testimonials. Businesses are working hard to provide what
their customers want – if you see a great page let them know.
Do: Help promote others.. Networking works both ways – the more
you are willing to help someone else the more they will likely reach
out to help you in return.
Do post compelling messages – post great pictures – share your
timeline with great content.
Do post regular messages of interest for your family and friends.
Do respond to questions, concerns, and compliments on your social
media page.
Do post regularly about news, trips, and fun posts about your staff.

26. Don’t: Connect with everyone. Quality is more important than quantity.
When making a connection with someone other than family or friends –
research and ask yourself why?
Don’t: Post things you would not want to get out – personal information
best left for an in person conversation
Don’t spam… If you have a business do not post your merchandise
directly on others personal or professional timelines. (unless authorized
& then only in moderation with returned kindness)
Don’t post too much. Don’t overload your followers to the point they
ignore you. Remember quality over quantity
Don’t just post for the “heck of it.” this is not Twitter telling us what
you had for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily is not what people are
following you to read
Don’t: Link a personal FB page with business if you are going to post
the morning after pictures – or risky pictures that will cause concern for
family, friends or bosses
Don’t: Loose a good friend or risk getting blocked or unfriended. If
your having an off day call 1-800-BFF

27. TIME MANAGEMENT
AllRightsReserved
Donotcopyordisseminate
Understanding how to benefit from social media is key to not letting it
ruin your life – use it for the value it holds but YOU control it
Not the other way around.
• Have a goal of what you want to accomplish when logging into
social media
• Already have your pictures and content ready
• If there is something on FB you see like an article you would like
to read, but you have not finished your task yet… Use the ‘Save’
feature on the post so you can review it later.
• Set clear time limits for both personal and work usage
• Remember social media is a ‘SNAPSHOT’ of a persons life –
avoid emotional pitfalls. Just because their life in one post looks
amazing you do not know what is happening the other 99% of
the time. Be happy for others – then get out and make your own
amazing moments!

You can also use the

valued by FB. Especially a

40. PICTURES PERMISSIONS
A tag is a special kind of link.
When you tag someone, you
create a link to their timeline.
The post you tag the person in
may also be added to that
person’s timeline. For example,
you can tag a photo to show
who’s in the photo or post a
status update and say who
you’re with. If you tag a friend
in your status update, anyone
who sees that update can click
on your friend’s name and go
to their timeline. Your status
update may also show up on
that friend’s timeline.
You can remove a tag
You can tag up to 50
people or pages on a
photo
You can review tags
before allowing them on
your timeline

54. Like Facebook Login, Anonymous Login lets you sign
up or log into an app or game using your Facebook
account. However, while Facebook Login gives you the
option to share your personal info with the app or game,
Anonymous Login shares none of your info. It also
doesn't allow the app or game to post on your behalf.
Instead, Anonymous Login sends an anonymous ID that
allows you to use the app or game without sharing any
of your personal info found on Facebook. The app or
game will receive the same anonymous ID regardless of
whether you use Anonymous Login to sign up or log
into it on your phone, tablet or computer.
Note: If you later decide you want to use the social
features of an app or game, you'll need switch to
Facebook Login.

55. Make sure your settings are the way you are
comfortable with before engaging an app or
game.
Read all their settings – REMEMBER – apps
and games are not built by FB and are operated
by outside developers.
There is a reason it is free…. They are collecting
data or they are getting $$$ when you choose
to buy upgraded features

58. Although Facebook doesn’t control the support
provided by app developers, we work to make
sure that all outside developers follow our policies.
Please report the problem to the app developer
directly. If you don’t get a good response, report
the app to us.
We also recommend that you block the app and
the person who's harassing you. This will prevent
them from seeing your information or contacting
you in any way on Facebook. They'll not be
notified that you've blocked them.
