II- NARRATIVE GROUP
Project Overview
1. Description of our team
We are the “ Sunflower” group. There are six members in our group: Huong, Cuc,
Thuy, Tuyen, Trang, Son. We are from the different provinces in Vietnam. In this
project, we chose Ninh Binh province that was a wonderful destination in one of
member’s hometowns. After searching information and talking together, we decided
to focus on some beautiful sites in Ninh Binh such as: Tam Coc, Bich Dong, Co Vien
Lau...We have worked mainly through Facebook because we could get in touch easily.
It is clear that we were all classmates, so it was quite easy to work together. In our
group, to make all tasks complete quickly and effectively, all members had their own
roles: Huong worked as team leader, Thuy acted as a secretary and designer, Son
used camera and smart phone to have a real video, Tuyen and Trang were into
summarizers, Cuc was a reporter. All of us worked together to research and write
about our destination. Then, we had some discussions to edit and correct the mistakes
if any. After 14 weeks, we had some products like : a brochure, a video and a website,
an album 3D.
Moreover, it was the first time we have worked about a project, so it is very hard to
avoid difficuties or barriors . But we did not give up and my teacher- Mr Huy who
guided and instructed us about design and many other skills. On the first step, we were
very worried about this project, but we tried to overcome and got some good results
and lessons. In this project, we hope that all things we did and worked will be usefull
for many people.
2. Summary of Our Project.
After 14 weeks, we had finished our project with the main final products: a brochure,
and a short video introducing about Ninh Binh tourism. We hope that our products
will provide you more information about some famous places in Ninh Binh province
and help you have a nice trip when coming to Ninh Binh. Besides, this project
provided us many interesting experiences. Thank to this subject, we had a chance to
work in group with others. This was a great chance for us to improve our team work
skills. We knew how to divide all tasks equally, helped each others to complete the
work. Besides, we also improved self-learning ability. To have good final products,
we had to use many technology tools such as digital cameras, computer, some
softwares like movie maker, photoscape...We knew some basic steps to design a
brochure and create website.
3. Our computer and Internet access
- All members in our group used laptop and internet to access to search information,
images; design brochure, web.
-We typed text and exchanged information with teacher and other member in our
group. In most of periods in class, there were more than 2 members in our group
bring laptop to classroom to work.
- Connection speech used in the class: not sure because we used Wi-Fi of cell phone
4. The problems we had to overcome
We have studied many subjects before, but with excursion project, this was the first
time we have studied a real project. Therefore, we had to overcome many problems.
In the beginning, we had 6 members for a group called Sunflower group. All of us
were classmates, but we have never worked together in group. Besides, each member
has their own characteristics and ideas, so it was not easy to connect everyone and all
the ideas completely.
Moreover, our group was 6 girls. We didn’t have any boy to help us on the technical
side. Most of us only know to use some simple software or application, thus we had to
search and learn more new softwares to complete our video and brochure. In addition,
to make a good video, we needed a camera with the high quality. However, the most
important thing was that we didn’t have any cameras or devices. We tried to asks our
friends for borrow it, but it seems impossibly. And luckily, one member of our group
could borrow a camera from her friend.
We chose Ninh Binh to be our destination to make a real tour, so the distance from
Thai Nguyen to Ninh Binh was quite far. We had to move about 180 km by coach to
come to Ninh Binh. Before the short tour, we were afraid of being carsick. However,
finally, all the members were quite okay. No one got carsick. We could visit Ninh
Binh immediately after arriving.
Furthermore, it was so sad that the weather condition didn’t support us. It rained
during our tour. We were very difficult to move and the quality of pictures and video
we took were also affected. When coming back to Thai Nguyen, we had to find many
ways to overcome this problem.
We co-operated for the first time and had many highly required tasks from our teacher
to complete. But our group overcome and experienced together all the challenges. We
had nice videos and brochure when finishing the project. Especially, we could
understand our friends clearly and we had unforgettable memory and new lessons that
were really useful for all of us.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Our project has given us the enjoyable experiences. It also has brought us closer to the
world. We discovered many wonderful things in the trip. This project helped us to
work together and communicate with others better.
6. How did your activities and research for this Excursion Project support
standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
In this project, we learned a lot of things: thinking skill, understanding how to
analyze and synthetic information, practicing writing and editing skill the content of
material. We read lots of material about destinations in Ninh Binh, cultures, customs
in Ninh Binh in books, newspapers and magazines or on the Internet. From there, we
not only collected useful information to service for our project but also learnt ways to
write and design a brochure. We learned how to use camera to make a video, how to
crop photos and edit video, how to record, dub…Especially, we were not trained in
design but in this project we knew how to design a brochure, how to arrange the
layout of a brochure, how to order image, tone values…With the laptop and internet
access, we could design a website about Ninh Binh Tourism. Now, we know what is
website, how to design a website, how to arrange layout of a website….
Project Element
1. What information tools & technologies did you used complete your Excursion
project?
In order to complete this project, we were extremely dependent on technology. Due to
most of us used facebook, so we started with something basic and popular as
facebook. This software was useful because we always used it to contact with other
person in group. We often used group chat to exchange ideas and works. For
designing the brochure, we used powerpoint. At the beginning, we found it was quite
difficult to do, but after the guiding of teacher and practicing some slides, most of us
thought that this software was very useful in design. Because it was easy to design,
insert, format pictures or texts. We also used digital camera (we used a camera of
Samsung), smart phone to record our oral production and take photographs for our
brochure. Besides, we also used photoscape for image edit, and moviemaker, proshow
gold for video. After completing editing video, we uploaded this video on Youtube.
We read some books, magazines, magazines online to collect information and
consulted their design style. We used mainly google chrome for gathering,
researching, and processing information. In this project, we also created a website as a
final production. We used Wix.com to create a website about Ninh Binh tourism. All
these tools and software were used to help us complete this project.
2. In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your project
both on-line and in person.
From the beginning, our team members have acted as ambassadors. We used
Facebook, Edmodo account and Email to post news, information about the project and
our writings. We exchanged the ideals together to give the best way for this project.
We had a real tour last month, we had 2 days to visit the famous destinations in Ninh
Binh province and had some interesting interviews with people in here. Every week,
we worked in group, found information and shared our writings. We created a website
about the famous destinations in Ninh Binh province. This website and our project is
helping us achieve our ultimate goal of introducing the popular destinations in Ninh
Binh province and conserving the national cultures.
3. What has been the impact of your project on your community?
Our project introduces the famous destinations in Ninh Binh province for all people. It
helps us have more interesting knowledge and love to this land. We will bring many
opportunities for community, it helps people in here rise income such as buying
souvernirs, popular foods and drinks or doing business hotel, etc. Our project will
contribute positively to protect and conserve the traditional cultures or famous craft
villages. Besides, this project is very interesting, so it will attract to many investments.
Our attractive tourism project has received so much positive feedback from our
friends. Through this project, we want to introduce to different communities and
cultures throughout the world about the popular destinations and people in Ninh Binh
province.
4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and
volunteers?
We was very thankful to a lot of people supporting in the process of the project. We
were very happy when my teacher helped us enthusiasic. He shared with us many
materials, contacts, making website skill... He was extremely helpful because of
sharing with our group and other members about all plans in this project. Sometimes,
we felt that it was very stressed and embarassed when we must turn in the assignment
to deadline. But he also talked about how to organize action plan and carry out it.
Futhermore, we are very thankful when we could travel in one of member’s house.
Her family, her close friends and people in Ninh Binh helped us to have wonderful
journey. They gave us many food and drinks to prepare for the lunch. We went to
some famous sites by bikes. We spent some days in there to have a real video and
experinced about one of famous places in Vietnam. It were very interesting when most
of people were very friendly and kind. When we talked about exursion project, they
were very happy and proud and they made many conditions to help us have best
product. We were so happy because of their enthusiasm.They used boats to bring us to
3 caves in Tam Coc. They said that they wanted to see us another time if we had any
chance to come.
Most of people around us have been very delicated and always willing to help the
project successfully. We hope that everyone can remember about unforgettable
memories in this project.We would like to say “thanks so much” to everyone involved
for their help and support as helpers and supporters.
5. Discoveries, lessons, surprises
Firstly, we thought that studying the Excursion project would be very boring because
we did not have any real tour, just only presentation and brochure as every year.
However, when our teacher was an enthusiatic teacher, we recognized many things.
He motivated and supported us with many new and creative thoughts from the
beginning. The teacher offered us useful websites and materials to read and consult.
Therefore, we discovered much useful knowledge. We also find out that our country
had so many beautiful places to visit. Our destination – Ninh Binh was a wondeful
landscape that made us feel so interesting. We were impressive not only by the
wonderful and poetic scenery but also the friendliness of people in here. Although we
didn’t have any aquaintances in Ninh Binh, we still received the help from the
boatman when we visited Tam Coc by boat or a strange woman allowed us to use her
table table and chairs to have the lunch without money. We knew that there were still
many helpful people beside the bad one.
Besides, all of us lack of skills on the technical side before the project. However, we
had to study and update some modern softwares to design websites and brochure by
oursheves. And this result were received the encouragement and good comments from
the teacher. That was so surprised with 6 girls who lack both experience and skills.
After finishing the project, the most important thing we achieved is not the high or
good grade, it must be the new knowledge, realistic lessons and useful skills for us to
practice in our life.
Our group have 2 main products: a brochure, a video. Besides, we also created a
website and an album 3D ( basing on brochure). You can follow some links:

  • 2. 1. Description of our team We are the “ Sunflower” group. There are six members in our group: Huong, Cuc, Thuy, Tuyen, Trang, Son. We are from the different provinces in Vietnam. In this project, we chose Ninh Binh province that was a wonderful destination in one of member’s hometowns. After searching information and talking together, we decided to focus on some beautiful sites in Ninh Binh such as: Tam Coc, Bich Dong, Co Vien Lau...We have worked mainly through Facebook because we could get in touch easily. It is clear that we were all classmates, so it was quite easy to work together. In our group, to make all tasks complete quickly and effectively, all members had their own roles: Huong worked as team leader, Thuy acted as a secretary and designer, Son used camera and smart phone to have a real video, Tuyen and Trang were into summarizers, Cuc was a reporter. All of us worked together to research and write about our destination. Then, we had some discussions to edit and correct the mistakes if any. After 14 weeks, we had some products like : a brochure, a video and a website, an album 3D. Moreover, it was the first time we have worked about a project, so it is very hard to avoid difficuties or barriors . But we did not give up and my teacher- Mr Huy who guided and instructed us about design and many other skills. On the first step, we were very worried about this project, but we tried to overcome and got some good results and lessons. In this project, we hope that all things we did and worked will be usefull for many people. 2. Summary of Our Project. After 14 weeks, we had finished our project with the main final products: a brochure, and a short video introducing about Ninh Binh tourism. We hope that our products will provide you more information about some famous places in Ninh Binh province and help you have a nice trip when coming to Ninh Binh. Besides, this project provided us many interesting experiences. Thank to this subject, we had a chance to work in group with others. This was a great chance for us to improve our team work skills. We knew how to divide all tasks equally, helped each others to complete the
  • 3. work. Besides, we also improved self-learning ability. To have good final products, we had to use many technology tools such as digital cameras, computer, some softwares like movie maker, photoscape...We knew some basic steps to design a brochure and create website. 3. Our computer and Internet access - All members in our group used laptop and internet to access to search information, images; design brochure, web. -We typed text and exchanged information with teacher and other member in our group. In most of periods in class, there were more than 2 members in our group bring laptop to classroom to work. - Connection speech used in the class: not sure because we used Wi-Fi of cell phone 4. The problems we had to overcome We have studied many subjects before, but with excursion project, this was the first time we have studied a real project. Therefore, we had to overcome many problems. In the beginning, we had 6 members for a group called Sunflower group. All of us were classmates, but we have never worked together in group. Besides, each member has their own characteristics and ideas, so it was not easy to connect everyone and all the ideas completely. Moreover, our group was 6 girls. We didn’t have any boy to help us on the technical side. Most of us only know to use some simple software or application, thus we had to search and learn more new softwares to complete our video and brochure. In addition, to make a good video, we needed a camera with the high quality. However, the most important thing was that we didn’t have any cameras or devices. We tried to asks our friends for borrow it, but it seems impossibly. And luckily, one member of our group could borrow a camera from her friend. We chose Ninh Binh to be our destination to make a real tour, so the distance from Thai Nguyen to Ninh Binh was quite far. We had to move about 180 km by coach to
  • 4. come to Ninh Binh. Before the short tour, we were afraid of being carsick. However, finally, all the members were quite okay. No one got carsick. We could visit Ninh Binh immediately after arriving. Furthermore, it was so sad that the weather condition didn’t support us. It rained during our tour. We were very difficult to move and the quality of pictures and video we took were also affected. When coming back to Thai Nguyen, we had to find many ways to overcome this problem. We co-operated for the first time and had many highly required tasks from our teacher to complete. But our group overcome and experienced together all the challenges. We had nice videos and brochure when finishing the project. Especially, we could understand our friends clearly and we had unforgettable memory and new lessons that were really useful for all of us. 5. Our Project Sound Bite Our project has given us the enjoyable experiences. It also has brought us closer to the world. We discovered many wonderful things in the trip. This project helped us to work together and communicate with others better. 6. How did your activities and research for this Excursion Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards? In this project, we learned a lot of things: thinking skill, understanding how to analyze and synthetic information, practicing writing and editing skill the content of material. We read lots of material about destinations in Ninh Binh, cultures, customs in Ninh Binh in books, newspapers and magazines or on the Internet. From there, we not only collected useful information to service for our project but also learnt ways to write and design a brochure. We learned how to use camera to make a video, how to crop photos and edit video, how to record, dub…Especially, we were not trained in design but in this project we knew how to design a brochure, how to arrange the layout of a brochure, how to order image, tone values…With the laptop and internet
  • 5. access, we could design a website about Ninh Binh Tourism. Now, we know what is website, how to design a website, how to arrange layout of a website…. Project Element 1. What information tools & technologies did you used complete your Excursion project? In order to complete this project, we were extremely dependent on technology. Due to most of us used facebook, so we started with something basic and popular as facebook. This software was useful because we always used it to contact with other person in group. We often used group chat to exchange ideas and works. For designing the brochure, we used powerpoint. At the beginning, we found it was quite difficult to do, but after the guiding of teacher and practicing some slides, most of us thought that this software was very useful in design. Because it was easy to design, insert, format pictures or texts. We also used digital camera (we used a camera of Samsung), smart phone to record our oral production and take photographs for our brochure. Besides, we also used photoscape for image edit, and moviemaker, proshow gold for video. After completing editing video, we uploaded this video on Youtube. We read some books, magazines, magazines online to collect information and consulted their design style. We used mainly google chrome for gathering, researching, and processing information. In this project, we also created a website as a final production. We used Wix.com to create a website about Ninh Binh tourism. All these tools and software were used to help us complete this project. 2. In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your project both on-line and in person. From the beginning, our team members have acted as ambassadors. We used Facebook, Edmodo account and Email to post news, information about the project and our writings. We exchanged the ideals together to give the best way for this project. We had a real tour last month, we had 2 days to visit the famous destinations in Ninh
  • 6. Binh province and had some interesting interviews with people in here. Every week, we worked in group, found information and shared our writings. We created a website about the famous destinations in Ninh Binh province. This website and our project is helping us achieve our ultimate goal of introducing the popular destinations in Ninh Binh province and conserving the national cultures. 3. What has been the impact of your project on your community? Our project introduces the famous destinations in Ninh Binh province for all people. It helps us have more interesting knowledge and love to this land. We will bring many opportunities for community, it helps people in here rise income such as buying souvernirs, popular foods and drinks or doing business hotel, etc. Our project will contribute positively to protect and conserve the traditional cultures or famous craft villages. Besides, this project is very interesting, so it will attract to many investments. Our attractive tourism project has received so much positive feedback from our friends. Through this project, we want to introduce to different communities and cultures throughout the world about the popular destinations and people in Ninh Binh province. 4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers? We was very thankful to a lot of people supporting in the process of the project. We were very happy when my teacher helped us enthusiasic. He shared with us many materials, contacts, making website skill... He was extremely helpful because of sharing with our group and other members about all plans in this project. Sometimes, we felt that it was very stressed and embarassed when we must turn in the assignment to deadline. But he also talked about how to organize action plan and carry out it. Futhermore, we are very thankful when we could travel in one of member’s house. Her family, her close friends and people in Ninh Binh helped us to have wonderful journey. They gave us many food and drinks to prepare for the lunch. We went to some famous sites by bikes. We spent some days in there to have a real video and experinced about one of famous places in Vietnam. It were very interesting when most of people were very friendly and kind. When we talked about exursion project, they
  • 7. were very happy and proud and they made many conditions to help us have best product. We were so happy because of their enthusiasm.They used boats to bring us to 3 caves in Tam Coc. They said that they wanted to see us another time if we had any chance to come. Most of people around us have been very delicated and always willing to help the project successfully. We hope that everyone can remember about unforgettable memories in this project.We would like to say “thanks so much” to everyone involved for their help and support as helpers and supporters. 5. Discoveries, lessons, surprises Firstly, we thought that studying the Excursion project would be very boring because we did not have any real tour, just only presentation and brochure as every year. However, when our teacher was an enthusiatic teacher, we recognized many things. He motivated and supported us with many new and creative thoughts from the beginning. The teacher offered us useful websites and materials to read and consult. Therefore, we discovered much useful knowledge. We also find out that our country had so many beautiful places to visit. Our destination – Ninh Binh was a wondeful landscape that made us feel so interesting. We were impressive not only by the wonderful and poetic scenery but also the friendliness of people in here. Although we didn’t have any aquaintances in Ninh Binh, we still received the help from the boatman when we visited Tam Coc by boat or a strange woman allowed us to use her table table and chairs to have the lunch without money. We knew that there were still many helpful people beside the bad one. Besides, all of us lack of skills on the technical side before the project. However, we had to study and update some modern softwares to design websites and brochure by oursheves. And this result were received the encouragement and good comments from the teacher. That was so surprised with 6 girls who lack both experience and skills. After finishing the project, the most important thing we achieved is not the high or good grade, it must be the new knowledge, realistic lessons and useful skills for us to practice in our life.
