2. KLOUD - In For The Kill
At the very start of this music video the
audience gets an idea of the genre of
the song through the visuals portrayed
as the scene is quite futuristic and out
of the norm in setting. This is typical of
the genre as it usually rarely shows the
artist if at all.
3. The lyrics and the visuals match
perfectly as the setting we are put in as
an audience is almost like we are placed
without a machine or computer. The
lyrics have been given on the screen in a
type of code like what would be typed
on a computer. They also use numbers
in the place of letters (e.g. ‘3’ instead of
‘e’ in ‘desires’) to add to the idea that
this is more code than words being sung
linking the lyrics and visuals well. The
lyrics are very illustrative of the video.
4. The music is also very strongly linked
to the visuals in the sense that when
there are beats on the drum each line
of text is removed. This again gives the
sense that we are placed inside of a
computer as the audience as it is
almost like the lines of text(which are
presented as code) are removed at
each beat of the drum like someone
deleting each in time with the
drum(similar to the press of a
backspace key on a keyboard).
5. There is no idea of a motif or any close ups
of the artist as the artists in many trap
songs do not show their face and allow the
music and the visuals tell the story for
them. This shows that this song is very
typical of its genre.
6. There is no clear idea of the notion of
looking due to there being no actual
people within this music video but the
setting of the video slowly becomes more
like a computer with all of the screens and
parts. The only use of the screens
however is to portray the logo of the artist
and no reference to screens within
screens.
There is also no hint to any intertextual
references within this music video.
7. This music video is incredibly concept-based
where the whole video revolves around a
futuristic computer based environment. This
links strongly to the music which also has
aspects of being futuristic and within the sci-
fi genre. There is no clear idea of any
equilibrium(and with it no narrative), No sign
of a hero or villain etc. , and no
distinguishable binary opposites.
