This document analyzes different shot types from the Mumford and Sons music video for "I Will Wait" and how they contribute to the overall live performance experience. The establishing shot introduces the live scene and audience. The establishing shot/pan shows the entire stage and lights focused on the performers to give the audience the best view. The mid shot clearly shows all band members playing their instruments to emphasize it is a live performance not prerecorded. The long shot gives the perspective of an audience member with lighting focused on the stage to enhance their experience and emphasize the live, natural feeling of the music being created on stage.

also the fans listening and makes you
want to carry on listening. The
establishing shot clearly shows the
scene and clearly shows it is at a gig
or tour as the lighting is mainly
focused on them and not on the
fans. This shot also shows they are
using instruments and not a
computer generated sound etc. the
lighting itself shows us also that
these are the main guys and people
are there to see them as it is focused
on them, on the stage at the front of
the picture.

This shows the whole stage and
pans across the fans to get to
this point, it shows the lighting is
dark on the fans at the back to
give the best viewing experience
but the stage is fully lit with the
screens next to it. This does not
let us see the band as they are
too far away onto the stage,
showing how big the crowd is
and how many people are there
to see this band.

This shot shows all of the group
playing their instruments and clearly
showing that they are making the
notes themselves and not prerecorded. The shot also has heavy
lighting on them and the background
is dark to the right. The group are
also wearing country style clothing
linking to the genre of music even
more.

This shot gives us an idea of how it
felt and looked like for a fan in this
audience. The lighting again, is on
the group but as you can see from
the people in front of this camera,
there is no light on these ,only the
light coming from the stage and
surrounding lights. It gives them a
better experience. The live idea also
helps with the group trying to give a
natural feeling and does not make it
feel amplified by computer or
anything, it feel like they are
actually creating the music right
there. The shot also lets us see the
instruments clearly and again, they
are guitars, Chellos and keyboards
making it feel like its folk without
listening along with costume as
seen also
