Production Process Evaluation
Research
• Strengths of research were that I found what existing products there were, this
gave me an idea of how I wanted my game to look like and what layout I wanted to
do, I also found existing titles, this also gave me an idea for when I came to do my
title, this helped my product because when I came to finally make it I knew what
colours to use and what layout to do to make it attract my target audience,
another strength was that I got to look at what sort of age range the existing
games are aimed at, this helped my decide what age group I wanted my game to
be aimed at.
• Weaknesses looking through my research, there was only a small selection of
games that I looked at and they were all pretty much the same, broadening my
search would have increased my knowledge of my games genre and my games
layout, by doing this I think the end result of my game would have been different
Planning
• Strengths I found doing my planning were that when I did my practice
layouts, this allowed me plan how I might want my final product to look
when I came to making it, my planning helped my product because it gave
me ideas on the characters and background I wanted to make, I also think
another great strength was that I could change it and add image or text if
needed, also I was able to find images of existing versions of games that
were slightly similar to mine. The planning help
• Weaknesses I found doing my planning was that things could change as I
go on to develop my game, this means I would not be sticking to my
original plan and ideas
Time Management
• I believe I managed time really well, I completed my product on time, but I
feel if had been given additional time I could of made it look better and
added more to it, I would of made my maze look neater and adjusted the
size of my ghost, I also would have added more characters and given it
more of a storyline I also would have added text to give the viewer an idea
of what the game is about.
Technical Qualities
Difference, the difference on my game
compared to the existing one is my
backgrounds blue and the existing
ones black
Difference, the on this
existing game compared to
my game is that they have
put skulls for the player to
collect where as on mine I
have put coins
Similarity, both the
existing game and my
game have a points
scorer.
Aesthetic Qualities
I believe my work does look creative, but at the same time I think I could of
done a bit more to make it look better, generally speaking I think that my
game gets to the point and its easy to understand, I also feel as if I could of
added a better storyline, because I don’t feel as if people wouldn’t really
understand it.
Strengths: The strengths I have found from my product are, that it has a full
functioning start and finish, it also has sound when the coins are picked up,
also it has music throughout the game, it tells you how many points you have
at the end of the end.
Weaknesses: The weaknesses I have found from my product are, that it could
have had a better storyline, this then would allow people to understand it
more, another weakness I found was that I should of made the size of my
main character smaller, this would of allowed my character to move better
throughout the small
Audience Appeal
I have appealed my game to my target audience by
researching existing games and looking at how they are
outlaid and then making something completely different,
but while I was creating it I was thinking about what would
attract my target audience, the main character in my game
which is a ghost would appeal to my target audience
because a ghost can be spooky but also friendly, and a lot of
children, like ghosts and watch spooky animated cartoons
with ghosts in, for example Casper the friendly ghost, I have
also appealed my game to my target audience by adding a
bright coloured background, I did this because children are
attracted to bright colours and I know that would get there
attention, and I know with my game having music in it, this
would make them want to play it. Also because I have added
animated coins, this gives the player something to work
towards, archive, and make them want to finish the game,
and because I have added sound when the ghost collects the
coins this will make the player more interested in the game
when playing
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the product that this individual had made as it does all that it is meant to do. It isn’t
spectacular, but for me that didn’t really matter as the game was fun to watch. What I also like
about the product was the character that he had made, it was cute yet creepy at the same
time which for me suggested/implied that it was a game for the younger generation and I
think it’s a great game for that, if he was actually going for that audience. Another thing I liked
was the background, maze he created was quite creative and the colours throughout were
very effectively done. The music was really good and made the game seem more exciting then
perhaps without. I also like the little noise when the character collects the coins, I think that’s
a really effective and cool feature.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I think a few improvements could be made for example the size of the character displayed, for me
he is too big and through parts of the game it is cutting through the maze walls, which makes you
question the point of the maze? Another improvement would be the music as for me it was very
dull and I felt as if he needed to add a more exciting sound track.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• I wasn’t that keen on this particular product as for me, it seemed rushed and really short. Although
I do have to say that I enjoyed the ghost shown in the game but that for me was the best to come
out of it for me anyway. I suppose the special sounds he used was okay but they seemed out of
place for the game and didn’t really suit what you were collecting.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I believe a lot of improvements could have been made to this product as there was some major
faults with it. For example the maze was just too small for the ghost to run through and at times the
ghost was actually going through the walls of the maze. Which made me wonder what is the point
of the maze, especially when the character is a ghost, when the ghost could just go through the
walls anyway. The whole game just flaws itself before it even starts. The improvement I would
suggest would be to change the main character to something that isn’t spiritual and is physical, so
that the game doesn’t fall apart as soon as you start playing. Another improvement could be to
make the character smaller as well. As it was just far too big to be in the maze, like mentioned
before it was breaking through everything, so just to make the character smaller would be a great
improvement. Another improvement I would suggest would be to change the music in the
background of the game as its really dull and boring. Just making the music have a much scarier,
intense feel, if he’s going for the horror genre, would be so much better than what is currently on
there.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how the music and the coin sounds match when the character collects the coins, I also like how
the start page is the same colour as the points and ‘you win’ page.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I think what could be improved is how the character moves around as it doesn’t look like its going
around the maze. I think the points page could maybe have a trophy or stars. Or even add in a points
system in the game so they can see what they have got when playing.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
• Looking through my feedback I agree with what was said about the movement of my
character I think I should of changed the size, I also agree with that was said about the size of
my maze I think I could of done it a bit bigger to allow my character to move more freely
around.
What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
Looking through my feedback I disagree with what ha been said about the music I used
throughout my game, I feel as if the music fits well and is perfect for that genre of game
Peer Feedback Summary
– The changes I would make to my game, after receiving
my feedback are I would make my character smaller,
and also points system so that when people are
playing they can the points that they earn when
collecting the coins, I would also change the size of
the maze and make it so my character can actually
walk along the maze correctly, and I would also
change the background of my game because a ghost
and maze doesn’t really work… I would maybe do a
house background because I think this would look
better and make more sense, and I think if I was to do
it again the feedback would be very different.
