2. ‘I really like the writing on the advertisement.
The colour stands out against the rest of the
page and the simplicity works well.’ (Elspeth
Gray 18)
Having the artist as the main
focus really grabs your
attention. The writing doesn’t
take anything away from it.’
(Shannon Nee 19)
3. From our audience feedback, I found out that out magazine
advertisement was successful. The audience liked the colours on
the page and thought that the image we used worked really well.
The image we used for the magazine advertisement was black and
white and this was to link in with the simplicity of the page. The
audience thought that it worked really well as the image was large
and took up the majority of the page. The simplicity was an element
hat people noticed which we were happy about. The colours used
for the text was also something that was mentioned. They thought
that the pop of colour allowed the text to stand out on the page and
the simple text linked in with everything as well.
4. We also found out some things that we
could do to improve as well, because we
thought this would be very useful for our
evaluation. The first thing that was
suggested was adding a logo or a picture
of the album. This would help people
understand what to look for and make
things more recognisable. The second
suggestion was improving the line that
separates the bottom of the image to the
end of the page. The line cuts of the image
clearly so a smoother line of gradient effect
may work a lot better.
‘If I had to choose one thing to
improve, I think it would work
adding a logo or a picture of
the album, so that people can
recognise it a lot more.’ (Jill
Drake)
‘To improve the advertisement, I would change the line near the
bottom of the page. It isn’t that noticeable but having a smoother
transition could be an improvement.’ (Sheridan Marshall)
5. We collected some feedback for our music video to see
what went well and see what needed improving…
The first thing that people thought went well was the
storyline/Narrative of the video. The narrative was
something that we wanted to be one of the main
elements so we are happy that this is something that
people thought went really well. Our feedback included
that the narrative was clear on what was happening and
we could see who the main focus was. The narrative
was believable and everything worked well alongside it
to help it come together. They also thought that the song
linked in really well with the narrative as well as it was
upbeat and a well known pop song.
6. Another thing that we found out from our feedback was
that some specific shots stood out as they worked
successfully. One shot that was mentioned the most was
the shot of the celebrity getting ready in the mirror. This
wasn’t a shot that we initially planned on our storyboard,
but when filming, we thought it looked professional and
worked really well with the lighting. The audience said that
the angle used was really interesting and the lighting
helped to create an effect for the shot. They also said that
the shot was clear and in focus and it looked really
professional within the music video.
7. The things that were mentioned that could be
improved was the 180 rule that was broken during
a point of the video. Instead of flipping the camera
found when showing the conversation between
the two characters, we swapped the people round
instead. This is something that another student
noticed from our media class. Next time, we
would know not to break the 180 rule and make
sure that the clips are filmed as if they were
happening, rather than everything is set up.
8. ‘I really like the background, the
colours work nicely with everything
else. The whole colour scheme is
successful.’ (Chloe Fox 18)
‘I think that the images on the cds
work really well. They add a nice
effect and it’s something that you
would expect to see on pop cds.’
(Shannon Nee 19)
‘I like how the front cover
stands out against everything
else. Using the gold
background instead of the
white background makes it look
really professional.’ (Elspeth
Gray)
9. We also asked people what they think went well for the digi-pack as
well. The first thing that someone mentioned was the background
and the colour scheme. They thought that it linked in really nicely
with everything else and wasn’t anything too over the top. The
background was something we chose to link with the colours and
the names so we were happy that the audience thought that this
was successful. Another point that was mentioned was the images
we used on the cd’s. The audience thought that it added a nice
effect and was something that they would expect to see. We added
the images as we got inspiration from current digi-packs and we
also wanted the celebrity to be the main focus throughout. Finally,
the audience mentioned that they liked the front cover. Making it
look professional and appealing was our main aim.
10. We also found out what the audience
would want to improve as well. The
first suggestion was to do with the
editing of our images. Cutting out the
images of the artist was quite difficult
to do, so spending more time on this
could improve the look of the page.
The edges aren’t really bad, but it
wouldn’t be used for a professional
album. The second suggestion was
changing the book/poster. The
audiecne did like the look of them but
we could of added more effort into
these parts to improve our digi-pack
even further.
‘An improvement could be
possible spending more time
on cutting out he images so
that the edges aren’t as
fine.’
‘To improve the digi-pack,
you could experiment with
different things for the
book/poster so that they
were more detailed on the
plan.’
