2. Front Cover
To attract the target audience I
am aiming for, I based my
magazine off of the magazine
Kerrang I even used the
masthead from Kerrang As
inspiration of my own, as like on
Kerrang, the font is slightly
cracked, but I did that in order
for the font to portray the word
‘crash’.
I made it so my magazine is only
£2.99, this is because it will be a
monthly issue. This is also
because this is a reasonable
priced magazine, and the price
is within the price range of the
target audience.
I used the colour scheme of red,
black, white and grey as this is the
colour scheme used on many
other magazines that are similar
to mine. I did this as the colours
are eye-catching and will reach the
same sort of audience that a
magazine like Kerrang would
reach.
I decided to make it so this
magazine was a ‘special edition’
version, therefore making a vast
majority of the magazine
dedicated towards ‘The Official
Rock 100’. This would attract the
target audience, especially if they
would like to see who made the
chart and where they are.
I decided to make it so the
main image of the magazine
wasn’t centred, and is more to
the right. This is because I
wanted to make the cover of
my magazine unconventional,
this makes the magazine
unique as well as eye catching
as the main image is usually
always centred.
3. Contents Page
I made it so the contents lines
were the most interesting in the
magazine, and that they are
stories that the intended target
audience would be interested in.
I used the same colour scheme as
well as font and layout as I used
on the front cover as I was trying
to make this
For this contents page I made it
unlike normal contents pages.
This was to make it unique;
therefore more interesting and
eye-catching.
I chose this image for the contents
page as it looks affective, and also
appeals to someone who likes
music, and because of the type of
gig/concert the picture is
portraying it will attract the target
audience I am aiming to achieve.
I decided to add a preview of
pictures from a concert, and
make it so that if the consumer
wants to read more they would
have to go to the page mention.
This appeals to people who like
either going to concerts and are
curious to see what
bands/singers are in the picture,
also to people who like and
recognise the band/singer.
I also picked this image as I
like how the image looks, like
the picture is taken from a
phone not a professional
camera, and therefore gives
the crowded and humid feel
of a gig.
4. Double Page Spread
I made it so the title
is the most
noticeable thing on
the page. Also that
the title is
something that is
intriguing and
therefore makes the
consumer want to
read more of the
article.
I kept with the
same style format
as I did for the
contents page and
front cover. This
was so the
magazine has a
style of it’s own,
with a font and
format that could
easily be associated
with the magazine.
I added a ‘pull
quote,’ this was
so that the
consumer may
be flicking
through the
magazine and
read the quote;
this may make
them want to
read
I used white and
black writing on
a black
background so
that the writing
stands out and is
easily readable.
Also, as these
are colours that
are quite often
used in this
genre of
magazine when
there is a black
background.
