3. My intentions when I took the photograph were to make sure that the theme of music comes
through in the photograph. I also aimed to have headroom in order to place the masthead. As well
as this I wanted to make sure that the image had empty space for cover lines and also so the image
would appear professional.
My intentions were fulfilled as the image has empty space where cover lines can be placed and
there is a decent amount of headroom for my masthead and I believe it is a professional looking
image.
My image is appropriate as it features a teenager meaning that other teenagers will be more
appealed to it as they can relate to the cover model. This photograph is also appropriate for my the
specific issue I created as the issue focuses on music within films, in order to make the image
appropriate I made the decision to include a piano in the picture.
When planning this photo I tried to add a meaning within in it, eventually I decide the meaning
would be that anyone should be able to succeed. This meaning is created through the use of a
model and props. Although the model is quite young he is an accomplished pianist highlighting to
the audience that age shouldn’t matter when developing a skill.
4.
5. I feel the combination of the image and text I selected works quite well, I think this because all the
text is legible and bold, both of these things are important when it comes to magazine covers. I feel
my colour scheme is striking and stands out from most other front covers, therefore it works.
The meaning created by the text and finished front cover differs from the meaning created by the
image alone, the meaning changes to the frustrations of young people, this meaning is created
through the use of red and black bold text, suggesting anger and frustration.
My finished product is appropriate for the target audience as it is varied so it keeps the interest of
young people, who are notoriously difficult to maintain the interest of. It is also appropriate as the
text doesn’t distract from the young person on the front cover.
I think my finished product is appropriate my intentions as I wanted all of my text to stand out,
which I feel it does and also the text occupies the empty space well, which is something I wanted to
do without making the front covers appear cluttered, which I feel I have done.

7. My intentions for this photograph were to make sure that there was plenty of space for the
information I needed to include as I didn’t want my front cover to appear cluttered or messy. I also
wanted to make sure that the model didn’t look out of place using the camera, I made sure of this
by making the model look down the camera.
This issue of the magazine focuses on getting young people into film. I decided therefore that having
a young person pretending to film something on the cover would be appropriate, and I feel it is. The
use of a young person as the model is appropriate as it helps young people realise feel more
comfortable as they relate to the cover model more.
The meaning of this image is that young people can achieve what they put their mind to, this is
shown through the use of a camera, not many young people have access to these cameras but it is
shown as possible through determination.
8.
9. I feel my combination of text and my image is appropriate as all the text stands out well as all the
text stands out and is eye catching these things are important when it comes to magazine cover
production therefore I feel by achieving them the combination is successful.
The meaning created is that young people can do extraordinary things, this is created through the
use of a young person as a model, highlighting that young people are just as capable as modelling as
the older generation.
My finished product is appropriate for the target audience as it uses colours a colour scheme that
attracts their attention and the text doesn’t distract from the model meaning that they can still
identify that a young person is on the cover.
This final cover fulfils my intentions as I wanted the text to all stand out, which it does. I also wanted
to inspire young people which I feel is achieved as the finished product doesn’t distract from the
young person on the cover doing something extraordinary.
10.
11. My intentions were to show off both props I decided to use while not distracting from the cover
model. I also wanted the background to barely be visible but also appear quite earie as well, I feel
this is done though the use of the harsh brick wall background which appears creepy due to the low
key lighting. I also wanted the props and the model to contrast well which I feel is done well through
the use of expression.
The specific issue I created focuses on Halloween and Halloween films, my image is appropriate for
the theme and specific issue due to the use of the Halloween related props, the mask and the rat.
My cover is appropriate for a teen magazine as it features a teenage model, allowing the teen
audience to appeal to it more as they will be intrigued by this making them want to purchase and
read the magazine.
The meaning created in this image is that any setting can be transformed into a scary one through
the use of lighting I also wanted to highlight young people’s stereotypical enjoyment of horror
movies, shown though the use of a happy expression mixed with the use of horror related props.
12.
13. I feel the combination of my text and image works well as all the text stands out clearly and the
fonts I have used are appropriate to the theme of the magazine.
The meaning created in this image is similar to the previous image, young people have a high
enjoyment for horror movies, this again highlighted through the use of bold text, especially the
cover lines which use a different font, the us of the very curvy font suggests happiness and
enjoyment.
This image is appropriate for the target audience who altho9ugh is generally young people also is
young people that enjoy film too. The cover lines appeal to this sub group as they are largely film
related.
This image fulfils my intentions as the background is harsh and has connotations of the horror genre
due to the bricks and dark lighting. After editing I feel that this image shows the contrast between
the model and props well, this is done through the use of smart filters and cropping.
14.
15. When I took the image I wanted a dead black background this was in order to draw all of the
audiences attention onto the model, therefore showing off the theme more. The final image fulfils
my intentions as there is nothing but the model to focus on meaning that the theme is harder to
miss and having a recognisable theme was one my intentions.
This image is appropriate for a teen magazine as the model used is a very stereotypical teenager
who wears average clothes and overall appears to be very stereotypical, this allows the target
audience to relate to the image more. This issue focuses on Christmas and Christmas films, this is
clear through the use of the Christmas hat.
The meaning created is that Christmas is an all consuming holiday that takes up a large portion of
people’s lives. This meaning is created as there is little else to focus on other than the model, who is
wearing a Christmas hat.
16.
17. I feel the combination of my text and image works well as my text all stands out clearly and relates
to the theme, this is done through the use of Christmas related colours for the cover lines.
The meaning created is very similar to the previous image, Christmas is an all consuming holiday yet
this is not a negative thing as it is a positive holiday that promotes good moral ideals.
This final image is appropriate for the target audience as the cover lines largely focus on films and
the target audience would include mostly film fans. The finished product is also appropriate for the
target audience of young people as it doesn’t contain any inappropriate language, themes or
content.
The finished product fulfils my intentions as the cover lines do not distract from the theme, they are
all related to it in some way. I also think they fulfil my intentions as they all bold and legible,
meaning that the cover is eye catching, this is very important when making a front cover.
