A Teaching Method to Incorporate Different Learning Styles
Karen Schaewe, MSN, RN
 Students are given the choice of a group of tasks to complete to demonstrate and
extend their learning
 Each choice targets a different learning style or preference
 Alternatively the rows can be arranged by difficulty
 Choices are arranged on a tic tac toe board
 Students must choose 3 squares (choices) in a row
 Each choice focuses on the important concepts of the material
 Students can choose how they demonstrate their knowledge
 Students can choose the “easy way” even if they are capable
 Requires some creativity on the part of the teacher to address each learning style
with an activity
