WHAT KIND OF MEDIA
INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE
YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND
WHY?
BY KAMILA GLOMSKA
WHAT COULD BE USED TO DISTRIBUTE
MY FILM
CINEMAS
When the film first comes out it will be shown in the
cinema, this is so that the audience can come and watch
the film after they have seen the trailer and the TV
adverts months before the release of the film. Audiences
might also want to got o the cinema to watch the film for
the experience, for example they might want to see it in
3D if there is lots of actions to feel like they are part of
the film, or they might go to escape every day life as
there will be no distractions while at the cinema that
there could be when they re watching it at home. This
therefore will distribute my film and the cinema will also
promote the film before it comes out.
DVD
After the film comes out and it’s been in the cinema for
a couple of months then the film will come out in a
DVD, this is so people can have a physical copy of the
film and can watch it at any time that they want so they
won’t have to keep going to the cinema to watch the
film again. Also having a physical copy gives the
audience a sense of belonging. This option might
appeal to the audience as it will mean that it will be less
expensive in the long term, this is because they can pay
for the DVD once and then watch the film as many
times as they want, meaning that they won’t have to
spend their money on going to the cinema.
STREAMING APPS
However, some people don’t like having physical copies
in their house, and due to the development of
technology and the internet we are able to buy apps
that store nearly every film on them. This would appeal
to the audience because it means that for a monthly or
yearly fee they can watch any film that they want on
that app and therefore they won’t have to go to the
cinema to go and watch films, it also means that all the
films will be in one place which means that they won’t
crowd a room. It’s also more efficient as it can be
accessed at any time you just need internet, and it can
also be downloaded on any device so it can be watched
on anything.
SOCIAL MEDIA – MARKETIZING
By using social media it will create a buzz about my film and I
would be able to post sneak peeks and trailers on Facebook,
which will give my film more publicity therefore more people will
want to go and see it when it comes out.
