Cyberbullying involves bullying through digital devices and online platforms. It can occur through text, apps, social media, or games where people can view, share, or participate in online content. A 2018 study found that 37% of Indian children reported being cyberbullied, higher than many other countries. Cyberbullying is often motivated by entertainment, power, social status, social pressure, or revenge. It can have serious negative effects on victims' mental health and well-being, potentially leading to depression, low self-esteem, health problems, and suicidal thoughts. Indian law includes provisions under the IT Act and IPC to address cyberbullying.
