2. AUDIENCE
The sub genre of our film ‘U.S.B’( which stands for Unknown
.Suspicious .Behaviour) is a Teen drama.
The Target Audience for my film is teenagers aged 14-18. What
we considered when coming up with a target audience was
how are we going to appeal to that group. There are various
methods we used which would help us make our film more
appealing to the youth of today .
This took time as we made sure we didn’t over do it and to make
sure it seemed organic.
3. MISE-EN-SCENE&SOUND
The props we used were very important as this was one of the
main ways of the youth accepting the characters. Both the male
and female protagonist were dressed in an urban style and is
similar to how the youth dress, you can argue that this is also the
stereotype of the youths dress sense.
The soundtrack we had playing under the footage was a remake
of a well known rap song which the youth would also enjoy the
fact that the choice of music is something close to what they
listen to.
4. ROUGH CUT FEEDBACK
Getting some feedback from our peers and teachers on our
rough cut was really important and worked out to be extremely
beneficial. The advice we received was ways we could improve
our editing, sound and making sure we used as much mis-en-
scene as possible.
I believe we were able to achieve our goals as we listened to the
feedback and went back and made sure we tweeked our film to
make sure the camera shots and editing all made sense and also
to make sure there were a variety of shots which we had.
5. HOW WE REACHED OUR AUDIENCE
We have made a Twitter account which was used to make sure
that we could spread the word of our new film. We used twitter
as it is the most used social networking today amongst the youth.
We have also created a website which will attract more youth.
Links for both twitter account and website is placed below:
Our short film is uploaded on vimeo for our audience to see and
we also had a cinema preview enabling other students to see
our work and we have also made it availible to view via our
twitter page.
6. ATTRACTING A NEW AUDIENCE
I believe we were able to attract another audience as we
showed the film to some adults who really enjoyed our camera,
editing and sound. They liked the fact that the name links to what
is going on in the film as the audience view the unknown
suspicious behaviour taking place.
As the film has no violence or inappropriate features I believe we
possibly could’ve appealed to an even younger audience as
they would also enjoy the film and take in the sound, scenery
and camera work.
